Where do I even begin with how amazing Meigh is? Well, to begin at the beginning, my partner and I were trying to plan the wedding on our own, since we met doing event planning, but a few months in we realized we were in over our heads and needed help. After interviewing a few wedding planners, we were despairing of finding one who could help us deliver the classy yet quirky LGBTQ wedding of our dreams. And then we found Meigh.

Meigh was perfect in every way. We hired her at the “partial planner level” and got so much more than we expected. She was our accountabilibuddy, helping us get through all the tasks we needed to accomplish and taking care of critical things (or things we didn’t have strong opinions about but which needed to be done nonetheless), while empowering us to have the wedding we wanted. She is so calm, friendly, and professional, she put us at ease! Every time we got super stressed, after talking to Meigh, we felt better and things got back under control. She had a ton of tools and to-do lists to help us manage everything. She let us lead on the vendors we wanted, but was also able to suggest vendors and solutions when we got stumped.

Meigh was also uniquely talented in putting at ease both conservative and liberal family members and making a safe space for our queer friends. And she managed a lot of family drama and chaos with aplomb. On the wedding day, everything went seamlessly—there were a few hiccups behind the scenes, as there always are, but Meigh handled and resolved them all so that almost no one noticed!

Hiring Meigh was one of the very best decisions we made for the wedding day—and definitely the highest value-to-money ratio of any vendor we had. I truly cannot recommend Meigh and Lula Mae Events highly enough, and will certainly try to find a way to work with her again.

Meigh did an absolutely incredible job as the day of coordinator for my partner and I's wedding. Everything went very smoothly, and a large part of that is due to how organized and on top of everything Meigh was. When we had an issues with the flower bouquets, she immediately figured out a solution (which involved essentially creating the bouquets herself!) . We LOVED Meigh, the powerhouse behind Lula Mae Events! We started the planning process with another planner, who was so frustrating that we ended our relationship with them. We were a bit cagey to try again, but knew we needed the help. Meigh was excellent! We hired her for somewhere between partial and full planning, and she put together exactly the package we needed. We asked for weekly meetings, which she happily arranged. She kept us on track with budget and to-do trackers, and always kept a positive attitude, congratulating us on what we had decided/done, and staying cool and calm when we fell behind deadline (time and again). She answered all our questions, was super accessible, and provided vendor suggestions and contacts when requested.
We could not have been a particularly easy couple to work with – wanting control of all decisions, without the ability to make decisions quickly or efficiently – but we had a great working relationship and felt like friends by the end!
Meigh was also a wonder at helping plan and implement the weekend-of details. She asked questions and made plans for things we never would’ve thought of. She made the day run smoothly from start to finish, from picking up the cake to making sure the venue was clean and our stuff was with trusted friends at the end of the night, and she kept any challenges away from our notice.

We hired Meigh for month of coordination, and it was truly the best wedding planning decision we made! Early in planning, she was incredibly generous with her time and advice, answering random questions we had by email, helping us translate a confusing vendor contract, and providing invaluable ideas during our venue walkthrough. Once we were a month out, Meigh was super helpful in making sure we had thought of everything, nailing down final details, and confirming our vendors. At the rehearsal and wedding itself, Meigh was just incredible. She managed our rehearsal like a pro, handling everyone from older parents to young cranky nephews with aplomb. And she went so above and beyond the day of the wedding, even making a last minute Target run to fix a problem with our chuppah and breaking out her flower glue to fix some corsages. The decor Meigh set up (including our diy'ed flowers) looked breathtaking, and way better than if we had set it up ourselves. She thought of EVERY detail during the wedding--as my husband kept saying, she's a wizard! We trusted Meigh completely, and were able to completely relax and enjoy our wedding thanks to her.

Meigh's month of package is also an incredible value compared to other planners in the DC area. We can't recommend her highly enough!

Meighan had been the planner for a dear friend's wedding over 5 years ago, and I remembered her rave review, so I turned to her for an unusual request this year: my brother and I needed to plan a 70-person plated memorial dinner for our father to fulfill his last request. Meighan immediately understood what we were looking to do: like a wedding, gather loved ones for a meaningful celebration (while neither of us lived in the area, during a pandemic). Meighan was superlative from start to finish: she made great recommendations regarding everything from an unusual and beautiful venue to the best catering I've had to gorgeous flowers that fit the tone of the event perfectly, wrangled all the contracts, provided great guidance for RSVP timelines and seating charts, and handled everything with gracious aplomb, even when it was disorganization on our end that goofed up something with the alcohol the day of the event and two "surprise" guests! Our event literally wouldn't have happened without her, and we got so many compliments from friends and family members the day-of, all of which were really compliments about what Meighan had done. Plus, she's just such a friendly and genuine person! So if you're looking to have a gorgeous and well-organized event and to *enjoy* planning it with someone's expert help, I can't recommend Meighan more highly.

About a year before my wedding I was in a eclectic shop in DC, chatting with the owner about these camera stamps she had and how I was planning a wedding. During our conversation she gave me the card of her friend who was a wedding coordinator and I put the card in my wallet. A few weeks later I was reading a review for a planner on Off Beat Bride and knew I needed to meet her. I couldn't pin why the name was so familiar until I took the card out of my wallet and saw that I'd been recommended LulaMae already! Serendipity!

Working with Meigh was great! She answered all of our questions, (and believe me we had a lot), dealt with both our mothers, wedding party, and all our vendors. She was truly the person I needed on my team.

We needed to find a vendor that we felt comfortable interacting with my guests who were a diverse group of cultural backgrounds, sexual orientations, and gender expressions and Meigh left us feeling at ease. It also helped that she was nerdy af and so were we!

Meigh met with us to get out vision of the day, came up with our timeline (even making amendments the day before), coordinated with all our vendors, and helped take so much off our plates. When we got to the venue, everything was arranged just how we wanted, and I didn't have to worry about the rest of the day going off without a hitch.

Meigh was fantastic and I'd hire here for any future events if the need arises.

Hiring Meigh with Lula Mae Special Events for month-of coordination was hands-down one of the best decisions we made for our wedding day.
There we were, one month before the wedding, starting to panic (...maybe that was just me) about the details still to be sorted out. In came Meigh with tips for every question/ concern we came up with and the spreadsheets/timelines we needed to keep us organized. She took over coordinating our vendors and helped us navigate the nitty-gritty, and was lovely to work with throughout the process. On the day of our wedding, she helped with everything from decor to keeping things moving on schedule and making sure all of our belongings went home with the right people at the end of the night (and I'm sure 1000 other things I wasn't even aware of because they had it under control)-- which allowed me to truly enjoy the day without worrying about any of the details.
I would hire her again without doubt, and cannot recommend working with Meigh/Lula Mae highly enough!

We hired Meighan for month-of coordination and could not be more thrilled with that decision. Leading up to the event Meighan took the time to understand the specifics of our event. We did some things non-traditionally, and she hit the perfect balance of not forcing us to be cookie-cutter, but also alerting us to why certain traditions exist and what leaving them out may impact, but leaving it our decision.
Additionally she was very clearly organized and communicative leading up to the event. Her communications were clear and timely both in terms of proactive reminders to me, and also in answers to my questions. I really appreciated her use of Google Drive so that everyone could be on exactly the same page.
All of this meant that on the day of the wedding I genuinely felt completely at ease. To this day, I have no idea if anything went less-than-perfect because the day seemed to go off without a hitch.
I couldn't recommend Meighan enough!
