About

The Loring-Greenough House is a jewel of a preserved Georgian country mansion set on two acres of landscaped grounds in the center of one of Boston’s greenest neighborhoods, Jamaica Plain. The authentic vintage surroundings are the perfect setting for a modern-day wedding, anniversary party, holiday fête — or any one of life’s special occasions. Gathering amidst the elegance of the 1760s estate is one way to celebrate your future and share in preserving the past. Enjoy the warmth of an intimate, 50-person wedding or reception in the richly decorated Loring-Greenough House at any time of the year. Welcome your guests in the gracious rooms on the main floor and enjoy the privacy of the dressing room and photography room upstairs. If you are looking for a setting to accommodate up to 150 people, the handsome facade of the house serves as an elegant backdrop to outdoor, tented festivities. the best boston venue!

We are SO happy we chose to get married at LGH. It was such a beautiful setting - the gardens are amazing, and the lawn is such a fun place to host a cocktail hour. LGH is super community-driven, and is kept up by wonderful people. We worked closely with Amanda, who was SO helpful leading up to and throughout our wedding day - she helped everything go very smoothly. We loved getting married in the city, and would recommend this venue to anyone looking to get married in Boston.

We worked with Amanda at the LGH for our 9/23/2017 wedding and it was perfect. The house itself is such a beautiful backdrop both inside & outside. The property is kept in amazing condition and the garden aisle I walked down for the ceremony was perfect. The space, location & feeling was exactly what we hoped for. It's just minutes from our home, so we can relive our special day anytime we want. It was perfect! Thank you again amanda & LGH for making our wedding day extraordinarily unique!

We were delighted that hosting our reception at the Loring-Greenough House allowed us to be married right in our home neighborhood of Jamaica Plain. We walked with a parade from our ceremony location and being on the lawn at the house felt like being in an amazing JP backyard! Amanda was super helpful and easy to work with throughout the entire process. We also felt very fortunate to benefit from the amazing, well-kept gardens, and had lawn games out during the party. The venue also allowed food trucks which ended up being the best food option for us, and so fun for our guests! If we could do it all again, we would choose Loring-Greenough again and again.

he Loring-Greenough House is a superb venue for a wedding. My daughter had a small wedding out of state and then a reception at LGH this summer. Throughout the planning process, the staff at LGH were fabulous. They helped us with the planning and were available every time we had a question or needed advice. The venue speaks for itself. Whether you want an elegant, formal wedding or a casual bar-b-q, the setting is perfect with the lovely gardens and expansive lawn.

I just wanted to thank the Loring-Greenough House for helping us pull off our wedding. Everyone is raving about it (even with the gusty storm that blew through)! We would definitely recommend Loring-Greenough House to friends looking for wedding venues in the future.

This venue is a treasure! Built b/f the Revolution, it's been immaculately restored and maintained. The house and grounds are gorgeous, and make for a romantic and elegant setting. The staff is super-helpful, and the rental is reasonable. And there's parking, an added bonus in urban Jamaica Plain.

This is what I wrote to the Loring-Greenough House's manager: "I want to thank you very much for your help in securing the LGH for my daughter' shower yesterday, and for the brilliant way you managed everything. People were awed by the house; several said "I go by here all the time and never really paid attention to it." Now they know what a treasure we have here in JP! Some took away a brochure and will, I hope, return for an event, to buy a wreath at Christmas, or to support the LGH mission and work."

My husband and I had our wedding and reception at the Loring Greenough House. I used to live in JP and had walked by the house regularly, thinking the house and the grounds were pretty, and I knew they held weddings there. When my husband and I decided to get married and look at places, it was the first we went to. We did a tour and loved the antiques and look of the house inside as well as the grounds. Our wedding there was perfect. Melissa, who was our contact person, was wonderful and helpful throughout. The flower aisle on the grounds made for a really special aisle for the ceremony as well.

Throughout the year the Loring Greenough House also has great events -- poetry readings, concerts, talks, art exhibits, etc. and they host a farmers market on the grounds too. A really great Jamaica Plain institution! By having our wedding there, I feel happy that we could help support them as well. I recommend it as a wedding venue, but also as a place to just explore and check out.

Over a year ago, we walked past the Loring-Greenough House on a lazy Sunday afternoon and decided to scope it out. We had not yet put a lot of thought into what kind of wedding we wanted, but halfway through the tour, we were convinced that this was going to be the venue for our ceremony.

We could not be happier with the experience. The event coordinator was accommodating every step of the way leading up to our event on New Year's Eve. The coordinator and her husband helped us set up our ceremony and small reception exactly as we wanted. Most importantly, she was a calm force on our wedding day.

Although they predominantly do summer weddings outside, it turned out to be a beautiful venue for a winter wedding, as well. All of our guests commented on how perfect the site was. Our photographer, a lifestyle and environmental photographer by trade, fell in love with the place, and we can't wait to see the results.

Many thanks to the Loring-Greenough House and its staff for making our day a very special one.

The Loring Greenough House was a fantastic venue for our May 2017 wedding! The location -- right in the heart of Jamaica Plain -- can't be beat, as most of our guests were able to walk or take public transit. The interior of the house is quirky and fun, but what can't be beat is the beautiful outdoor garden and reception area. The gardens are maintained by volunteers and they do an extraordinary job making sure it looks just perfect day of. Amanda helped provide day of coordination and was SO friendly, helpful and easy to work with throughout the process, from the first time we emailed till the end of the night. She went above and beyond helping with extra special touches for the day of. It's a historic house so they have some limitations, but nothing we found particularly onerous. (Ok, it was a great party and we wish it could have gone a bit later, but we just moved the fun to a local bar and it was great.) The LGH was a perfect, reasonably affordable option and I recommend it highly!
