L.M Townsend Catering produces delicious dishes for their clients’ weddings throughout Cooperstown, New York. The owner, Lucy Townsend, is a passionate chef who has years of experience working in the culinary world. A graduate of Dartmouth College, Lucy established this company in 1989. During this time she has had the honor of serving beautiful and refined cuisine for her clients’ weddings and other milestone celebrations.

Cuisine

L.M Townsend Catering offers a plethora of menus including wedding day breakfasts, hot and cold lunch boxes, formal dining experiences, and much more. Her dishes are inspired by cuisine and flavors from around the world including homely American, Mexican, German, Asian, and Italian. As all of Lucy’s meals are made from scratch using the finest ingredients possible, she can cater to those with specific dietary requirements without sacrificing on taste. This includes dishes that are vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free, and lactose-free.

Wonderful team to plan your wedding! They do a top notch job!

Our daughter got married on October 23, 2021 at the Fenimore Art Museum in Cooperstown, NY. Lucy did such an amazing job with everything! Food was so delicious! The staff were professional and very friendly. Mark did a fabulous job as the DJ and set up a beautiful tent for the reception! Together they make your event unforgettable and amazing!

Absolutely amazing!

My husband and I got married at Brewery Ommegang in Cooperstown on November 2 and worked with Lucy and her staff. We would give way more than 5 stars if we could. Lucy was amazing from start to finish - she was responsive, communicated along the way, gave us wonderful options and we were so happy with the day of. Lucy gave us flexibility on items we wanted for the cocktail hour to really make it our own and she had great suggestions. Our guests are still raving about the food options and the service at the wedding. We loved working with Lucy and her team and having the wedding at Ommegang!!!

Classy, delicious and unique

L.M. Townsend Catering was extremely easy to work with. Lucy was open to my idea of a variety of continuous foods for my wedding reception. I wanted my guests to have a more social meal than a traditional sit down dinner. Lucy has a large variety of foods to choose from that can accommodate any type of event. The day of the wedding a Micro burst tore through the golf course, flipping tables just hours before the reception. Her staff was able and willing to assist the golf course in any way possible. Not only did they help salvage what was left of our beautiful decorations but they helped set them up inside the clubhouse, put together a beautiful food display and provided exceptional service to our guests. I can't praise them enough for what they did WAY ABOVE what I paid them to do. I am forever grateful that I chose L.M. Townsend to cater my wedding. It's been 2 weeks and people are STILL raving about the food from the mac and cheese on edible spoons to the raw bar; and how delicious it was. Thanks Lucy and Staff - You are truly amazing!

Dinner of Our Dreams!

For the past nine months, we have emailed and spoken with Lucy frequently as we planned the catering for our April wedding. Lucy was always kind and quick to respond, offering professional advice and continually revising our menu selections per our changes. She worked directly with us, and a few of our vendors, on the layout and rentals for the event. She created a pasta buffet as our dinner, with items everyone could eat and love! She listened to our requests and found ways to incorporate foods we loved into our menus. People are still complimenting our cocktail hour selection and appreciated the variety of beer offered by the craft beer option. Lucy and her staff were attentive and crafted a beautiful meal and evening for us!

We used LM Townsend for our wedding at the Fenimore and Farmer's Museum last August and we could not have been more pleased with Lucy, her staff, and most importantly - the food! Lucy was amazing to work with - extremely organized, quick to respond, and gave helpful guidance and suggestions for how to make our event work best within our budget. On the day of everything went perfectly. The food was amazing - we received so many compliments - and her staff were friendly, sweet, and professional. Would highly recommend LM Townsend!

Huge thanks to L.M. Townsend for catering our back-to-back rehearsal and wedding dinners to perfection. From initial contact to the final bite, Lucy and her team were a true pleasure to have as part of our wedding - Professional and warm with wonderfully creative and delicious menus (that even effortlessly met a few of our guests' challenging dietary restrictions), beautiful presentation and overall flawless execution. Our venue posed a few set-up challenges and not only did Lucy visit on her own time to be sure she properly understood the layout and on-site capabilities, but kindly connected us with Cooperstown rentals so we could secure a few last-minute items that would meet our needs. She even recommended our fabulous jazz quartet. Our guests are still raving about the food at our rehearsal and wedding dinners, and we cannot thank Lucy and team enough for cooking up such special meals and delicious memories.

Lucy and her staff were amazing; not only did everyone rave about the food, the staff made sure the groom and I managed to eat as well. Lucy answered all the zillion questions and concerns we had leading up to the day with patience, and we cannot thank her enough for how wonderfully everything turned out. Her staff was courteous and professional throughout the event. One guest actually paid her the highest compliment- "I don't think I have ever left a wedding full (the food is never this good)!" Thank you so much Lucy!!

Lucy and team are top notch! I recommend their tasting the first Sunday of May. I was able to connect with a lot of my vendors there as well as, really nail down my menu. I hired L.M. Townsend catering for three days worth of events, my rehearsal dinner, my wedding dinner, and my Sunday brunch ... My guests are meat eaters, vegetarian, gluten-free, one nut allergy and tons of kids . Lucy was so accommodating and was so great working with my parents in their 70s. My guests raved on the food the drinks! I had requested farm to table food, and we were blown away!

Lucy and her staff did a phenomenal job handling the catering for our wedding. The stations were presented beautifully with eloquence and the food itself was as good as I have ever tasted at any wedding ever. The staff onsite was polite and did a great job setting up, serving, and cleaning up. Our guests all raved about the food and how beautiful it was all prepared and served. There isn't a caterer in Upstate NY better than LM Townsend and that is a fact. If you're looking for wedding catering this is the place, I wouldn't even bother talking to anyone else.

L.M. Townsend Catering was fantastic and we couldn't have asked for a better vendor to work with! Our wedding was October 17, 2015 and they provided our bar service, our desserts, and our favors (apple cider donuts). Everything was wonderful and we can't say enough about the bartenders; they were extremely professional and polite. We were so pleasantly surprised by the services provided and we would recommend L.M. Townsend to anyone!
