Kat took our engagement photos in Joshua Tree and wedding in Malibu. She’s fun to work and hang out with, but also very professional when it comes to the job! Our photos were so lovely and delivered super fast! We love working with Kat and would definitely recommend her!!

Kat is amazing! We just viewed our wedding photos a few days ago complete with wine and a music playist of the songs from our wedding. It was such a beautiful moment reliving the day through her work. I cried so much. She has a gift of capturing the subtle beautiful moments. Also, the energy that surrounds her is so infectious. It helps us feel comfortable and open on the other side of the lens. Our only regret is not having a photo WITH her.

OH MY F*&K!!! Michael and I are absolutely blown away by our photos. Seeing our wedding through Katherine’s lens was just as incredible as being there. It was such a treat to relive the best day of our lives through Katherine’s photography! We see our true selves in these photos and we couldn't love it more. If we could get married again and again we would have Katherine there each and every time. Michael and I couldn't thank Katherine enough for capturing our most intimate moments. Working with Katherine was such a wonderful experience! She completed our engagement session and her associate, Lauren, photographed our wedding day. My husband and I had never had a photoshoot before, but Katherine made our engagement session comfortable and easy going. She has such an eye for beauty and for creating the absolute best shots possible. I am still blown away by the photos every time I look at them. On our wedding day, Lauren was more than we could have asked for. She was so easy going and personable and turned what could have been an awkward and stressful photoshoot into a smooth and fun experience. She was so patient with our families and was present to capture each moment. We received our engagement photos very quickly (less than once month later) and received a preview of our wedding photos about 10 days after our wedding day. Katherine captured our vow renewal so authentically by reminding us to stay present with each other throughout the day. She helps prompt poses when needed, but she is so good to remind you to stay in the moment with your person so every pose feels intimate and not forced. I was so comfortable with Katherine that I often forgot we were being photographed. She also takes the time to get to know you and your partner before your big day. My husband and I met her for the first time over facetime and then again the day before our ceremony where we were staying. We sat around together talking and laughing together for over an hour. Katherine has such a knack for people and I truly feel like that is why she is so good at what she does. Seriously, she’s THE BEST!!

I started searching for wedding photographers WELL before I had considered a wedding venue. It was a priority in my wedding planning and I wanted to have beautiful photos and memories that accurately represented everything we were feeling during our wedding. I researched for weeks and found myself pouring over every photographer’s portfolio and Instagram feed. Finding Katherine Joy Photography was the best thing to have happened!

Katherine’s passion is presented through the beauty of her work. Her artistry managed to catch the essence of our wedding. When I look through our wedding albums, I am instantly transported back to our wedding day reliving the moment! We first met Katherine for our engagement pictures in the mountains. My husband and I are not necessarily comfortable in front of the camera… Katherine made us feel like we were hiking up a mountain with a friend. She has a true gift of making you feel so calm in an otherwise ‘awkward’ environment. Because of this gift (and her talent for gentle coaching around posing) our photos are something that I will forever cherish as a true depiction of who we are and how we felt about each other that day.
Luckily, that same sentiment was echoed for our wedding day. The small moments that Katherine and team were able to (discreetly) capture throughout the day are a true representation of freezing a feeling in a photo. Not only that, Katherine and Lauren had the perfect balance of hanging back to capture moments and stepping in to get down on the dance floor with our guests (see pics attached!)

Booking Katherine for our wedding was a decision that came with not one second of regret.
