Services Offered
John is available for engagement sessions and portraits. Unlike most wedding photographers, John has a Grand Rapids studio as an option for pre or post-wedding portraits. Options available at the studio include lighting for soft, dreamy images or a classic Hollywood style for a glamorous vintage look. Wedding package features and options include on-location or studio portraits, drone photography, a second photographer, albums, and an extensive collection of social media-ready images for download. Prints? John uses Chomalife 100+ ink and genuine Canon photo paper for outstanding prints that last. He has tried labs from all over the USA to find the highest quality metal and acrylic wall art for the images you want to adorn your walls. Whatever your needs, John can’t wait to meet you and discuss what he can do for you.

Finding the right photographer is a very important and personal decision. Your pictures will be what keeps the memories of your special day alive.
I am different than most of the other photographers you will see on the WeddingWire or theKnot. I only want to do a few weddings each year. Most of the time I work on Fine Art photography. My work has been featured in several art shows, and will be in the Regional Festival of the Arts and Artpize (both in Grand Rapids) this year.
Why am I doing weddings at all? Here’s my story. In 2017 I went to California to attend my nephew’s wedding. His photographer cancelled just days before his wedding. I brought my camera and several lenes, so I shot their wedding. I really enjoyed capturing those moments. I got interested not just in wedding photography, but the art of it, the craft of wedding photography.
Here are 2 things that I love about wedding photography:
- Find and capture those fleeting moments that show the emotions when family and friends converge for a once in a lifetime event.
- Making images that are an artform.
Most of my art photography is in low light, sunset or after dark. I happen to agree with the Phantom in the Phantom of the Opera with what he said about the night. I have cameras that can ‘see’ in the dark and have 5 strobe lights that can produce an enormous amount of light. If you choose me, and I choose you, you should get wedding pictures that don’t look like other people’s standard wedding shots.
You see, I love dramatic pictures.
