I never realized how special wedding jewelry could be until I met Jean. Before our wedding my then fiancé proposed to me with a “handmade ring”. It was lovely and sentimental. However, this ring was also due in part to his frustration with finding an engagement ring that he thought I would like and was special enough. Following the proposal he made a 2nd trip to NYC (this time with me in tow) where we visited everything from Kwiat to Cartier and several other shops in between but neither of us felt comfortable with the service nor did we find a ring we liked. I couldn’t stand the pushy sales associates or the rings that just looked like every other ring out there. Most pieces just looked trite and machine made, regardless of how much they sparkled. Feeling a little discouraged we returned to Boston empty handed. By coincidence a friend mentioned a jeweler she knew of located in Boston that still made high end custom pieces, hand engraving and most importantly she was “down to earth”. So we took a chance and visited her shop. At first we weren’t sure what to expect but once we met Jean we could see that this was just the person we needed. Jean was honest and up front - there was no sales pitch and no pressure to buy or sell. It was immediately clear that this was someone who makes jewelry for no other reason than the fact that she is an artist and truly enjoys it. We sketched out the ring that I wanted and within a couple of months together we designed the perfect ring.I love my ring, it’s sentimental b/c it was custom made the way we wanted and believe it or not having someone you actually like make it truly makes it more special. I honestly couldn’t recommend her enough.Naturally we had her make our bands. Since the wedding, I’ve returned and purchased gifts for family and most recently my brother just had her make his girlfriend’s engagement ring as well. I still stop by to say hi and have my rings cleaned. Jean is as kind and genuine as the first day we met her.
