The Gardens at Southridge is a 30-acre multi-use event venue and vacation rental located in Penn Valley, 15 minutes from the bustling towns of Grass Valley and Nevada City and the stunning Yuba River in the Sierra Foothills. The property’s multiple buildings, landscaped grounds, and outdoor spaces make a unique canvas for a wide array of private events and life celebrations. The Gardens can host events of anywhere from 20-150 people.
The main house is a five-bedroom, four-bathroom two-story home. Built originally by a master welder and metalworker for his family, the all-steel building is a seamless melding of high modern lines and lush vegetation. The downstairs is an open concept living room, den, dining area, and kitchen. The kitchen generously appointed with an oversized fridge, six-burner range, double ovens, and double sinks, with hand-welded steel cabinetry throughout. The extra long dining table easily seats 16. The den is anchored by a large steel fireplace and mantle, wood-fired pizza oven, baby grand piano, and pool table. The couch in the den opens into a queen-sized sleeper. Everything floats on the green polished cement floors. The downstairs also opens onto a large covered patio with a grill and rotisserie.
Upstairs you’ll find four tastefully decorated bedrooms with king-sized beds and a fifth bedroom with two queen-over-queen bunk beds. Multiple patios open onto both sides of the house. There is a 10 person infrared sauna and built-in kids fort in one of the rooms. The large, sunny master bedroom has two patios, a romantic fireplace, and a large additional space that doubles as a dressing area and bridal suite.
The pool is one of the largest private pools in the county and truly unique construction, with a wading area for small children and a deep end with a water slide and diving board. The pool area also includes a hot tub, another outdoor grill, and a built-in bar.
High ceilings, roll-up door, windows all around, wood stove, basketball hoop. Originally built as a winery, The Hall at Southridge is a multi-use space that can both accommodate 100 for a sit-down meal or hold a rocking late-night dance party. A good rain option for all events, the Hall is also equipped with built-in metal tables and ample electrical outlets, making it a convenient area for food prep and service.
Located above The Hall is a spacious one-bedroom apartment/groom’s quarters with a king-sized bed, recliner sectional, big screen tv, foosball, and bar.
Ceremony Site / Outdoor Stage
The custom-built half-octagon redwood stage and wedding platform backs up to long-range views. It gets great light in the late afternoon and is a wonderful location for sunset pictures. An expansive and intimate place for ceremonies, and a perfect spot for your band to set up under the stars.
The Grounds and Gardens
All of this is set in a lush landscape of mature trees and rolling lawns. There is a full-size sports field complete with overhead lights for a night game. It’s also a wonderful option for a large outdoor dinner. Gravel pathways wind over small bridges and past the koi pond. The grounds surrounding the house are an oasis of mature landscaping, flowers, and herbs, in the midst of pine and oak forest.
The Gardens at Southridge is also home to All Good Things Farms, an organic permaculture food and flower operation based on the property. Guests have the option of ordering fresh eggs, produce and cut flowers (seasonally) for their event, all grown and harvested in ecologically sustainable ways right here on site. Doesn’t get any more local than that.
