I used to be a photojournalist and worked as a photographer for a while. I wasn't amazing, mind you, but have an eye for composition and candid photos. So, obviously, I'm picky when it comes to picking a photographer for my WEDDING, and I have a checklist. I searched Google, The Knot, Wedding Wire, and whatever else I thought to search to form a list of potential photographers that I'd weed through until I narrowed it to three or four that I were confident with.

Heidi was my first choice after all of that work because of the great composition, colorful images, and amazingly artistic and creative shots. I've always been one to like airy, candid, and "clean" photos, but her skill showed through her work, so I decided I would ask about her schedule before I contacted my second choice, who fit my style of photo more traditionally but didn't quite have the obvious skill with a camera.

Heidi was available. Now, one trick I learned about making hard choices was that if a small part of me feels disappointed when I get the green light for one choice, I know I don't actually want it. But when Heidi said she was available, I was SO excited. Nervous because I'd never hired a photographer before, but so excited.

Then came the engagement shoot. I'm not a photogenic person, but pfff. Heidi proved that one wrong. I looked flippin' awesome. My husband and I met in the news industry, and we're bookish people. I'm also a book editor now, so words and newspapers and books are just...us. And in our engagement shoot, it shows. Heidi made us look amazing, and I still hear about how US our engagement shoot was. I also keep hearing how creative it was, because, yes, Heidi is amazingly creative.

Then I picked a wedding dress that NEEDED a bridal shoot, so I asked if we could add one. To say I was pleased with the results is an understatement. Ugh. They were so gorgeous. I look like a bride! I absolutely love how creative Heidi gets with light and perspective, and I couldn't be happier with the results so far. I'm so excited for my wedding photos. I'm not even worried about how they'll come out.

Heidi is amazing. That's the point I'm making. She's fun, sweet, and if you're uncomfortable in front of a camera, she has the personality that will make you feel like you're hanging out with a friend and just cheesing some photos for fun. I love her, and I'll definitely try to turn her into a family photographer, because I need her to take all my photos. Hear that, Heidi? All. Of. Them.

This woman saved our wedding day! Originally, Heidi was a second photographer for us. We met her at a friend's wedding and LOVED her, so we requested her to join someone else. Unfortunately, that someone else, the main photographer we hired, got ill and wasn't able to make it. Heidi came to the rescue and was our SUPERHERO! This woman, who only planned a few hours in AUSTIN for our wedding, stayed for HOURS after the original amount of time she intended to stay. She had family in town, too, a whole day of fun planned, and she put it all aside for us. She stayed even longer during the reception than our original photographer planned to! This woman was amazing. She jumped right in, took beautiful shots, and we got nothing but compliments about her. She's fun, engaging, blends right in, and truly, acted like part of our family.

I really can't say enough great things about Heidi. On top of that, our photos are BEAUTIFUL. Heidi, while not meeting with us previously, learned about us quickly and fit right in with our laid-back/chill style, capturing our humor and love (ewww, I know). My photos brought me right back to March 2nd. I teared up, I laughed, I teared up again.

My wedding planner introduced us to Heidi and I instantly knew she would be a great fit for my husband and I! Heidi made the consultation and booking process extremely simple and not only was she extremely informative, but she listened to our vision as well. Prior to the wedding she was super responsive and it felt like I was talking to a friend.

When the wedding came around she and her second shooter, Sloan, showed up on time and blended right in while shooting. Heidi and Sloan were super fun, laid back, flexible, and a downright dream team. Sloan took off to go shoot the groom + groomsmen and my husband said Sloan managed to make the picture taking less awkward and was a great fit for his group. We got married at Cinnamon Shore in Port Aransas and Heidi knew beach pictures were super important to me. She was so incredible at coordinating and posing all of us and took out all of the awkward guesswork. Even though we were cutting it close in regards to our timeline she stayed put and took as many pictures as I wanted and our beach pictures are some of our most cherished.

Even though we had a videographer (sidenote: our videographer, Big Box Pro, asked who our photographer was and was so pleased it was Heidi!) I had told Heidi that I still wanted to be able to relive our wedding in pictures. Candid pictures of our family and friends as well as capturing our personalities was our primary desire and she exceeded our expectations to the max. When we received our gallery we were blown away. They were better than we could have ever imagined and will be forever cherished.

Heidi has a great eye, creative mind, and even better personality. I will always highly recommend her as a photographer!

Heidi Rae was very involved in our wedding celebrations! She shot pictures of our engagement, rehearsal dinner, wedding day, and the day after wedding brunch, can you tell we loved working with her?!

My fiance was DREADING having our engagement pictures taken and was worried we would look super awkward and was stressed about the shoot for weeks beforehand, but Heidi made us feel SO comfortable and she had us laughing throughout the entire shoot (we did a sunrise AND a sunset shoot). She has a magical way of capturing your essence all while making it comfortable and fun.

The wedding was even better. She was so keen on getting certain shots and found the most beautiful and playful backdrops to work with. We completely trusted her during the wedding and we were not let down. Her pictures are stunning and she's such a wonderful individual who cares so much about her craft and her clients. Heidi’s eye for creating gorgeous photos is spectacular, and her passion is obvious. She went above and beyond to make sure every detail was perfect on our wedding day. My husband and I had Heidi take our engagement pictures (we got married in Ohio so we only did engagement pics with her) and she was amazing. I'm a pretty awkward person, and we had never taken pictures together professionally so she had her hands full with us but she did an awesome job. She's laid back and has a great personality so she would joke around with us and that helped me calm down and become more comfortable with the situation, and the end results were amazing. My husband and I absolutely loved our pictures and still look back at them all the time even though we got them a year ago. She was very accommodating, we had this vision of beach pictures with the sunrise but the weather didn't agree with that and she rescheduled with no extra charge or complaints so we could get the sunrise pictures we wanted. I HIGHLY recommend Heidi Rae, she is awesome.

Heidi is the Best of the BEST! She is incredible to work with. She made every step of my wedding memorable and so much fun. My wedding pictures are truly magnificent.
