About

A true Catskills barn, with as much history as the world's longest love affair. Built in 1790 by the Jaycox Family, these British settlers make a magical settlement with 15 mountains in their view. Since we began restoring the barn back to its original structure, we have reawakened the property into something the original family would be proud of, and now we offer it to you.

Have a small affair in the barn, or use the farm as a backdrop for a gorgeous, rustic tent. Full Moon Farm is a very special place, with local artisans standing by waiting to help you conceptualize and execute your wedding weekend into something your guests will never forget. You'll be glad you made the trip to Medusa.

This was pretty much the perfect place to have an outdoor/barn wedding in upstate NY. For the sake of clarity, I'll just list some of my favorite things.

1. The owner. She is so fantastic and was an amazing help to us through the whole process. I found her to be just the right amount of willing to help but not pushy at all. Fantastic!
2. The barn. It's stunning. Seriously. Pictures aren't even enough to convey the charm of the barn.
3. The setting. We had our ceremony up on a little hill overlooking the valley and the pond and the mountains in the background. It was simply gorgeous.
4. The inventory. Think you're going to have to buy vases, votives, big decor items? Nope. This place has an amazing inventory that's all there for you to use. Really saved us a lot of time and money.
5. The "blank slate". Everything is very simple here. The barn is whitewashed. The fields are just like country fields. Which is great! You can really make this super personal. We were able to set up a tent and transform the barn into a romantic little spot. Our ceremony site was very simple and just highlighted the beauty of the nature all around us.

If you're looking for a spot, definitely contact the owner and take a look at Full Moon Farm. You'll fall in love.

We had an incredible weekend wedding at Full Moon Farm. From the beginning our experience with the owners and planning team was positive. We were always made to feel welcome and secure. They were there for us all the way, never hesitating to get back to us promptly, and making us feel good in our decision to secure this venue. We were allowed to bring in our own caterer, which was a plus. Also, Full Moon Farm gives you the option of renting their lovely farmhouse if you want it. We loved the convenience of being on site, and the wonderful town and surrounding areas have more than enough charming inns to support accommodating a guest list for an event like this. The only thing we want to mention is that when you have a farm wedding, as with any remote locale, as you can imagine, you have to roll up your sleeves to get it done. Things like an arbor, linens and portable restroom trailers have to be booked well in advance. But it all got taken care of, thanks to the support staff, and we had an absolutely incredible weekend. I can't refer this venue enough. Now when we go to weddings, we smile and think "ours was so much better than theirs." You will be, too.

We just had the most amazing wedding at Full Moon Farm.

My wife (well, now my wife) decided that Full Moon Farm was the venue for us as soon as she walked inside the barn. And despite having a typical groom's indifference to the details, I have to admit I was pretty sold on it myself - it was just perfect. 200 years old (I think!), just like you imagine an old barn should be. It smelled wonderful! (and how often is smell one of the first comments about a venue!). Jen was already picturing all the wonderful ways she would prepare for our big day...

So that's the barn. The grounds themselves were fabulous - spacious grassy areas, mown paths to explore the fields, and a beautiful area for our ceremony. Jen would walk down from the lovely hen house area and we would marry underneath a tree, in front of all the guests.

We stayed in the farmhouse on the property - it has four rooms, and the loft room was perfect for my sister, her husband, and their two small kids. The shower is wonderful - stone walls and floor, it feels luxurious. Three of the bedrooms look out over the lake, and the other (the one we were in) has a lovely view of the property. We stayed three nights, and it was great to be able to be right there to organize things ahead of the day. I got to know the people at the Medusa General Store pretty well!

So... all this was wonderful, but the fabulousness of the venue is just half the reason why you should choose to have your wedding at Full Moon Farm. The other half you only realize the value of once you actually start getting into the realities of organizing a country wedding. Angela (the venue owner) was simply magnificent. Her response time to ANY question was usually under a minute - in fact, Jen and I were joking once when her response to our question came in after a full five minutes after we sent it (our joke was that she must have been abducted by aliens, as it was taking her so long to respond).

She helped with everything - caterers, shuttles, babysitters, mobile restrooms, getting a photo booth, tents, finding a day-of-event organizer (who, incidentally, was perfect)... She made our life so much easier, and she did it with such positive energy.

I give this venue across the board 5 out of 5s with one exception on "flexibility" (which gets a 4.5 out of 5 - that's still pretty good!). And I'll explain the reason for that. When you read through the rules of the venue (the barn, the property and the farmhouse), you'll may find them a little on the strict side, and it can seem off-putting. Once you speak to Angela though, you'll feel reassured - there are reasons for the strictness (namely a previous disaster group of people who trashed the place, or local quirky laws that she has to work within), and you'll find that she'll work with you to ensure your day is success. One example is the request that no one drive to the wedding - the reason is that the local sheriff has a thing about people driving to weddings in his county (fearing they'll drive home drunk). We wanted to use shuttles anyway (it makes sense, I promise you!), but we had 2-3 people who really needed to bring cars. Angela worked with us to make sure this was possible. In the end, no obstacle was really an obstacle any more.

I won't go on about how wonderful the actual day was - it just was. You can't imagine how beautiful the rustic barn looked in lanterns and light, and how good the locally sourced food was. I'll just finish by saying that if you want a wedding in the country, this is the place to do it.

My wife and I had the great pleasure of staying at Full Moon Farm during a trip upstate. It is a photographer's dream, with beautiful architectural lines and lovely open spaces. The farm is beautiful, serene, and romantic - perfect for a weekend getaway or for a wedding. We actually got married in upstate New York before learning about Full Moon Farm, and wish we had known about it and been able to get married there ourselves - it's exactly what we were looking for. Oh well, at least we can look forward to another visit.
