As a bride and a professional photographer, looking for a wedding photographer was a personal nightmare (a classic case of the cobbler's children having no shoes)! I had very high expectations and very particular aesthetic ideas of what I wanted my wedding photos to look like. Carolyn was exactly what I was looking for!

1- I loved that she was able to seamlessly blend into the party without it looking like a walking commercial photo equipment store.
Carolyn is very skilled: with nothing more than a camera with a mounted flash and natural lighting, she captured beautiful large family portraits and elegant candid moments.

2 - Carolyn was fantastic managing the larger group pictures. She was able to corral large groups without being intrusive or pushy. She diligently executed all requested shots and in addition, she surprised us with group shots of people I had not asked for… like figuring out which ladies were my high school girlfriends and taking a 12-person group photo of them, or the photo of all my Mom’s siblings (all in their 80s) on the dance floor! Her attention to detail and group dynamics made our wedding album very special.

3- My husband and I had a 120 person wedding at the Brooklyn Botanical Gardens. In addition to the attendees, the venue and location shots were very important to us. Carolyn captured the environment with stunning atmosphere and detail shots.

4- Finally, any wedding is a very emotional and intimate day. Carolyn’s calm and pleasant demeanor made it feel more like having an extra friend around than having a stranger documenting you like the paparazzi.

If you are looking for a kind and skillful artisan, I highly recommend Carolyn.

Working with everyone at Christian Oth before the wedding was great. They were super responsive, professional, and nice. I had Jack Jeffries as my photographer and he was fantastic. He is super talented, but also an awesome guy who we loved to be around. Him and his team did an amazing job! highly recommend.

Michael Falco, Christian Oth Studio, NY, NY

I cannot say enough good things about Michael Falco, our photographer from Christian Oth in NYC. Michael was a class act from the moment we met him- professional, warm, genuinely interested in the project, accommodating, appropriately emotionally involved, a true artist and always a gentleman. Michael and his fabulous assistant, Glen, arrived in Long Beach Island the night before our event and started taking a few pictures- including of the water tower in the town where we grew up summering. We had worked on a timeline together and Michael was the vendor who was most on time, making changes only when my family was running late or other vendors fell behind. He did everything in his power to achieve beautiful photos, cramming into the backseat of our special car with us, standing on benches in the chapel, even using an old boat as a prop. Before the ceremony, he was conscientious of keeping my dress as clean as possible and even carried my lip-gloss in his pocket for touch ups. Michael was respectful to everyone he encountered and made everyone feel comfortable in his presence- which made for more natural smiles. I cannot imagine a better wedding photographer and I urge you not to look any further- Michael Falco is insanely talented, as you can see on the site, and is truly the man.

We didn’t want posed, formal pictures so we searched high and low for the right photographer. We chose Carolyn Monastra as she had a great photojournalistic style. She and her assistant were very friendly and unobtrusive. I was worried that with two photographers and two videographers our guests would feel like they were in a Shelter Island reality show but it wasn’t the case.

She made us feel very comfortable while doing the “formal” family photos… Basically, she said to enjoy our cocktails and hor d’oeuvres and she’ll take the pictures. So much better for us than lining everyone up and take posed portraits!

The pictures were more amazing than we ever thought they could be. We couldn't have asked for better pictures and because we didn't really direct her in anything other than a style, (ie; we didn't have a shot list) speaks volumes for her talent.

I hired Meredith from Christian Oth Photography as my primary photographer and Jack as my secondary photographer. Both were extremely professional and made the entire day stress-free. The photographs that they took were beautiful. So beautiful that I will have a really hard time choosing photos for my album.

I just had my wedding this past weekend (in a hurricane) and I could not be happier with my choice to hire Shawn Connell from Christian Oth! He was amazingly talented, laid back, kind, creative and everything I dreamed of in a wedding photographer.
I was nervous about the rain but the shots I've seen so far have been breathtaking (I can't wait to get the full album back). I love the fact that he avoids cheesy poses...everything about his style is gorgeous and organic. My makeup artist told me he has a phenomenal reputation in the field (my fiancee and I just gravitated to his work on Christian Oth's website).
His team (asst and 2nd photographer) were also incredibly friendly and talented as well. I would HIGHLY recommend Shawn if he's anywhere near your budget. To us, photography was the most important vendor and I'm so glad our investment paid off.
