About the Hotel and Design

Canopy by Hilton Philadelphia Center City officially opened our hotel and The Wayward restaurant doors on August 3rd 2020. And we wasted no time in hosting weddings. Our wedding couples all love our intimate space and beautiful outdoor patio! We are one of the newest boutique hotels in Philadelphia, located within the newest East Market Development in Midtown Village Neighborhood of Center City offering a truly one of a kind product! As Hilton's luxury/lifestyle hotel, guests can enjoy the personal touches of a boutique hotel while enjoying the Hilton brand benefits. Our prime location offers guests easy accessibility to all of Philadelphia's ultimate destinations.

Housed in a beautiful adaptive reuse of the original 1896 Stephen Girard Trust Building, we have completely transformed the interior into the perfect juxtaposition of historic art deco and modern lux while preserving the exterior in it's iconic original design. We searched high and low for one of a kind curation of artworks throughout every corner of the hotel from Philadelphia region based artists. What better way to capture a day to remember in the most historic city with history, art and modern looks! Your wedding photos will be sure to impress.

About the Canopy Just-Right Rooms

Walk into a welcoming lobby where our enthusiastic staff are ready to make your stay relaxing and enjoyable! Enjoy the Just-Right Rooms designed with your needs in mind. All rooms feature high ceilings and windows to allow for ample sunlight. Hand picked decoration and chandeliers with dimmable ability so you set the mood to meet your preferencse. A perfect "Uncloset" open area with an ergonomic luggage shelf so you can drop your bag and hang your clothes. A special Canopy design over the bed and a Philadelphia inspired decor so you can feel connected to the city during your stay. Our hotel rooms boasts of the Philadelphia Hip Hop Culture and the neighborhood's original fashion district history. Lastly, our beds complete the Just-Right promise with the highly rated Serta Mattress outfitted with the Zoneactive 5 zone foam topper and Serta Cool Balance technology. We have also added an extensive Hilton CleanStay with Lysol procedures for guest's health and safety. Additionally Hilton Connected Rooms and Digital Key enable guests to experience an easy mobile check in and control over your own room feature settings with minimal contact. About our Venue Spaces

Wanamaker & Wanamaker Pre-function

We designed a modern and trendy space featuring linen-less furniture so you can host your event in style while lessening carbon footprints! With a design that is in harmony with the lobby and guestrooms, the Wanamaker and Wanamaker Pre-function space will feature a deep forest green contrasted with delicate gold accents and wood cabinets. Our ceilings in the meeting room feature a pop of color in geometric shapes to tie in the hip hop culture of Philadelphia. The high ceilings and ample windows along the wall welcome in plenty of natural light. Our glass doors are heavily frosted to create a space that is private yet not closed in. The pre-function features a pantry space that has a gorgeous induction stone top to keep your event food warm and stylish! We understand it's the details that matter and our professional and enthusiastic staff are ready to execute your event needs seamlessly from beginning to end.

Canopy Patio

A unique semi-private outdoor space located to the side of the hotel and in conjuction with The Wayward restaurant outdoor seating. Twinkle lit at night to set the ambiance in an industrial like exterior set up surrounded by plants. Closed off to the city on a private street, enjoy the sanctuary in the heart of the city with 24 hour security.

The Wayward Restaurant Space

A more non-traditional event space in the airy and sunlit restaurant featuring an open concept kitchen and gorgeous marbling. A fun geometric tiled floor and light wood top tables brings the perfect textures. Not always available and in high demand for a book out!

About The Wayward

French sailor turned American powerhouse, Stephen Girard was always known for his headstrong and rebellious attitude. It's what pushed him to leave his home in Bordeaux, France and travel the world, conquering New York City's shipping and trade industry before docking in Philadelphia to build a life. Fromt there, Girard went on to build a number of successful business in banking, construction, policitcs and philanthropy to better Philadelphia.

We named this restaurant The Wayward as a tribute to Girard's spirit, his life at sea, and his legacy as a successful entrepreneur. Much like Girard, we sway toward the unconventional. Our menu is focused on American classics, while taking notes from beloved French bistros, and our oyster and gin selections are some of the best in the city. Where locacls and wonderers go to meet! Our catering is done in house by The Wayward serving an eclectic menu that inspires for some great food for events!
