Becoming Images is a boutique wedding photography studio based in Juneau, Alaska although Penny, the owner, and her daughter, Kaley, wander the world doing what they love. Penny has been documenting life, love, and laughter for more than 15 years. She has traveled from all over the world and covered more than 200 weddings. With over 15 years of experience, her passion for her craft remains as strong as ever. Her work is a celebration of passion, inspiration, and possibility. Penny was an absolute dream to work with for our wedding! After COVID flipped our original wedding plans from a large Juneau wedding to an intimate Lake Tahoe wedding, we we're afraid we'd be looking for a new photographer. Amazingly, when we talked to Penny about our change of plans her response was "wherever you need me, I'll be there" and she truly was! Penny went so above and beyond as a photographer. Even when an unexpected rain storm blew in on our outdoor dinner reception, Penny and her husband Bill hustled with the rest of the wedding party to shift our dinner indoors. Penny's calming and supportive personality really allowed for my husband and I to feel at complete ease and resulted in the most amazing photos from our big day. Throughout the entire process, Penny felt more like a family friend than a vendor. In the words of my mom "I just want to adopt her into our family!" We cannot wait to work with Penny in the coming years as we grow our family.

Perfect Mountain Top Wedding Photos
We chose Becoming Images to photograph our wedding at the Juneau Tram and could not have been happier with the experience and photos. Penny and her daughter Kaley caught every detail of our special day. We got suggestions on vendors, shooting locations and day of schedule that were helpful to the planning process. The creativity, vision, and direction that Penny gave us allowed for epic shots that captured our adventurous spirit and scenery despite getting married on a typical Juneau day. Let me tell you this: It is crazy hard to photograph in one dimensional grey and rain but our shots turned out so playful and beautiful, featuring the lush greens, mist, and magical nature of being in the Tongass rainforest. Penny and her team were incredibly professional and easy to work with. We opted for seasoned photographers that could cater to a full-out, mountain-top wedding with Alaskan flair and this team really delivered. I highly recommend Becoming Images for all your photographing needs!

Great and personal Alaska photographer
Penny was great to work with. She was kind and professional from the very start. We didn’t want typical bride and groom photos; we wanted to focus more on family and the grooms grandma. She was more than willing to do that for us. She took great family photos. She also took a lot of random shots; some of which ended up being my favorite!

Amazing Experience with a Talented Photographer
We decided to do things a bit differently than most people. We got married before we traveled, but knew we wanted our photos done in Alaska. Penny understood exactly what we were looking for and helped immensely to make it happen. She helped us find a florist and make up artist and directed us to so many beautiful locations. The photos turned out so much better than I ever imagined and the whole experience was so much fun! The photo book we got in our package is beautifully put together and amazing quality. We would highly recommend Becoming Images for anyone looking for a truly unique and wonderful experience.

Awesome People, Awesome Photos
Kelsey & I worked with Penny and Kaley for our wedding and we love the photos! We appreciated being able to talk with them ahead of time to discuss our preferences. The results are exactly what we wanted. Kaley was very generous with her time and even did a pre-wedding photoshoot with us so we could get to know her. Once we received the photos, Penny was very patient and helpful as we chose and ordered our prints. We’re looking forward to enjoying them and are grateful to have *perfect* photos of our wedding.

Truly A Gem!!
Words cannot articulate the experience Penny gave us. We came up for a micro wedding from PA unsure of the lay of the land.. Penny made sure to utilize our time wisely and take us to the MOST BEAUTIFUL SPOTS! She spent time consulting with us via zoom before our big day to ensure any requests or visual expectations were met! On our big day she was there promptly and kept everyone moving on our timeline. Not just photography - beautiful art.
I've worked with Penny for years - family pictures, professional headshots, senior photos, and now wedding photos. Penny is a rare combination - a consummate professional and exquisite artist. She works to understand her clients' needs - and then she exceeds them. My daughter's wedding photos were so stunning that the only challenge is to pick between them. The best experience we have ever had with a photographer.
Penny from becoming Images is one of the kindest human being I have ever met, and her talent matches her kindness. My husband and and I eloped in Alaska, and were so lucky to find Her. She came to get us in Juneau which was one of the port where we got off, she put us in contact with an amazing officient, and flower shop, and they all worked together to make our day magical. Penny orchestrated everything so that we wouldn’t be stressed, and found the most beautiful peaceful beach for us to get married on, and took us around Juneau and took pictures at different locations, which was great as we had never been there.
Penny makes you feel very comfortable during the shoot, and knows how to capture the true you, while mixing in her personal touch. My husband and I feel we could not have had a better day, and we owe it all to Penny! We love the wedding pictures she took, and all the people and places she recommended. She is AMAZING!

Penny shot our engagement photos, wedding, and day after the wedding (which I highly recommend to get the shots you want that you didn't have time for.) She flew all the way from Alaska to Virginia for both days. She was so professional and kind. She made us feel comfortable and was attentive to our needs. She listens and collaborates with you in order to get your dream photos. For the photos and time spent it is a great price and penny is willing to work with you. We had so much fun laughing with her and getting to know her. Not to mention her photos are something out of a magazine or movie. I highly recommend her to anybody looking for a wedding photographer. She's a magician. We were lucky she was a part of our day.
