In truth, our story is iconic. It began in 1993 when one bow-tie-wearing man, Bill Kenerson, couldn’t find attractive, high-quality ties to wear to work, and took it upon himself to change the situation. He bought some fabric that he liked, connected with a local seamstress, and together they created some bow ties.

To make a long story short, Bill’s passion for wearing bow ties became a passion for sharing them, as well, and a little Vermont company came into existence – albeit in the spare bedroom of his house. It took a few years before Bill and his wife Deb made a leap of faith, giving up their day jobs to manage their growing company. And then – at an age when most folks are thinking about retiring – broke ground for a new building that became (and still is!) home to our manufacturing, sales, marketing and shipping operations.

Ensconced in a new facility, our product line expanded to include neckties, cummerbunds, pocket squares, ascots, cravats, neckties, boys' ties and scarves - all of them made by our seamstresses right here in beautiful Middlebury, Vermont.

We were all about 'Made in the USA' way before it was cool!

Not only that, we were all about being a good neighbor, and a responsible corporate citizen. Over the years, not only has Beau Ties contributed products to local non-profits to support their efforts, we have donated a portion of our sales to a wide variety of organizations – including Save The Children Foundation, the Breast Cancer Research Fund, the 9/11 Memorial Fund, the National Museum of African American History and Culture, among so many others.

Although Bill is no longer with us, and Deb is enjoying a well-deserved retirement, Beau Ties continues to thrive with new ownership and a veteran team of staff members.

Now offering the largest selection of ties and accessories anywhere in the U.S., we have expanded our scope – creating an ever-increasing collection of women's products and accessories. Just like most of our men's and kids’ products, women's headbands, tote bags, scarves, aprons, wristlets and more are all made right here in Vermont.

After over 30 years in business, we like to think we've mastered the art of designing and hand sewing superior products. And we’ve confirmed that doing something for others whenever we can makes doing well even more satisfying. We thank you for that – and look forward to the next chapter of our ongoing story.
