Facilities and Capacity
With a maximum capacity of 150 guests, Ampersea is best suited to intimate and small-scale weddings. Several indoor and outdoor spaces are available to accommodate you and your loved ones. By the waterfront lies the beautiful Frederick Douglass - Isaac Myers Maritime Park. Steeped in history and old-world charm, this building is one of the oldest in the locality and will make a stunning backdrop to your wedding photography. You can host your evening wedding reception in the Founders Room, with rustic exposed brick and industrial-style beams all around. Alternatively, the Bearman Gallery can be set up for a memorable dining experience. Naturally lit with floor-to-ceiling windows and balconies overlooking the harbor, this room is sure to impress your guests. Finally, if al fresco dining is your preference, you can host an outdoor event on the Cardin Pier beside the calm and tranquil waters.
Services Offered
Ampersea can facilitate all types of events, including engagement parties, rehearsal dinners, elopements, and weddings. If your event has over 35 guests, you are required to rent tables and chairs from the Select Event Group. China, flatware, and linens are all included in the reception package, and the staff can manage the setup and cleanup of your event.
Cuisine
For your wedding banquet at Ampersea, you can look forward to the culinary team's excellent bar and catering services. Family-style, buffet stations, and plated services are the available dining options. From pan-roasted salmon to succulent beef ribs, you can choose from an endless array of tempting options. Picking a wedding venue was one of the more difficult aspects of wedding planning. So many hidden fees and details that the bride & groom are left to sort out on their own. When we came across Ampersea we were so relieved to learn that we didn’t have to worry about renting tables, chairs, napkins, and so on. We had the full restaurant to ourselves and the fees were very straightforward. We also knew that the food would be excellent because we eat there all the time! After tons of research, Ampersea turned out to be our one and only venue visit. We booked them on the spot for our September 2022 wedding!
Our guests absolutely raved about the food, drinks, and atmosphere of our wedding. I loved that there were different areas for guests to explore- dance floor, dining room, indoor & outdoor bars, outdoor seating area, and the promenade along the water.
We hired Meg as our coordinator, and she was in touch with us throughout the entire process. She went above and beyond to connect with our other vendors and help our day run smoothly. I highly recommend making her a part of the Ampersea experience. We were able to truly enjoy our wedding day without worry!

We just celebrated our daughter's wedding this past weekend at Ampersea. Here's the scoop: Randee - the wedding coordinator - was fantastic. She worked with us over the past several months on all the details. This made it so easy for us - we did the ceremony and the reception at their venue. The views are breathtaking and because its on the boardwalk, the space seems huge. Our guests loved that they could be inside with the food - or they could take it out onto the dock (and the 2nd bar!) to enjoy their food. My daughter arrived on the water taxi (aka - hired for 'pre-gaming') and that was the start of a fantastic night. The place was set up when we got there - and then the Ampersea team moved things around depending on the activities - a circle of chairs on the dock for family for the ceremony - then tables later to sit and eat. Everything is right here. There is no venue charge since they do the catering. And the food was fantastic! We had a raw bar, charcutier boards, chicken n waffles bites, chicken sliders and mini crab cakes. Dinner was sliced to order turkey breast and beef - with sides of potatoes and crispy bacon brussel sprouts. Then dessert - a Smith Island cake, chocolate mousse shooters and chocolate covered strawberries. Champagne toast - and oh yeh - late night truffle parmesan fries! The serving crew was so attentive and fast. The costs included gratuity, and all taxes - no hidden stuff. My daughter's first rule when selecting the venue was 'no carpeting - and must have a cool vibe' - Ampersea hit it out of the park. I would highly recommend them to anyone. -
