About

Hire an experienced music professional for your special event. My name is Abby Nixon, and I am a professional musician with a degree in music performance who works in the music industry full time. As an active member of the Philadelphia music community, I play regularly with a wide variety of groups from many genres (jazz, folk, rock, etc). I specialize in weddings and events, with a large repertoire ranging from light classical acoustic instruments to plugged-in jazz and rock, solo strolling violin to reception group. I offer a free consultation for all my clients to discuss the options available for your particular event, giving you an opportunity to listen to a sampling of my repertoire. I also offer a variety of high quality ensembles, from solo violins and string quartets, to contemporary violin/guitar/bass trios for a lively party vibe. I make every effort to tailor my services to your preferences and taste, and I endeavor to give you a memorable and unique performance.

Magical Ceremony Music!

The violinist we originally hired had a last minute conflict and we were stuck without ceremony music. Abby saved the day and stepped in! She was kind, professional, and a sheer joy to work with. Hire her and you won't regret it!

Versatile Beautifuly Playing Violinst

I feel like I hit the jackpot when I came across Abby! I knew that i wanted a violinist but really wasn't sure what I wanted past that point. Abby worked with me and suggested a few songs which were perfect. Abby played everything from classical, modern (Game of Thrones) and finally Irish Folk music. She was on board immediately with all my crazy ideas and helped arrange the music with my pianist which I already had through the church. Abby played beautifully with her without meeting her prior to the wedding. She worked directly with the pianist to be sure that they had the same pieces of music to play which helped lighten my load of tasks that I needed to get through. She was absolutely wonderful to work with and I could not be more pleased.

What a wonderful experience we had working with Abby! I reached out to her early on in the wedding planning process and she was always extremely helpful and responsive. She listened to my vision and had so many great suggestions along the way. We decided to have her play during both our Catholic Wedding Mass (with a cellist that she provided) and our reception cocktail hour (with a pianist that she also provided). Walking down the aisle to the sound of strings playing Pachelbel's Canon was one of the most beautiful and surreal experiences of my life. We received so many compliments from our guests telling us how beautiful her music was. Abby is a true professional and incredibly talented! We could not be happier with our decision to have her part of our special day-- she truly gave us a magical day that we will never forget! I could not recommend her more for your special occasion.

Abby was absolutely fantastic to work with. She was flexible and reliable and super responsive throughout the whole planning process. She played during our ceremony and cocktail hour and the guests and we loved it. She was super professional and super talented and event met requests of playing non traditional songs during the ceremony. I couldn't request her more!

Abby and Chris were the perfect pair to play at our wedding! We were familiar with their work, and they were the only option we wanted to play our procession and recession as well as the cocktail hour music. Abby in particular was excellent to work with! She provided great samples and suggestions on what to play at different times, and timing-wise they nailed the playlist and cues! I'm SO appreciative of their services and would hire them again in a heartbeat!!

Abby was very helpful while we figured out our wedding ceremony and cocktail hour music. We were not sure which direction we wanted to go in terms of instruments and song style/choices, but Abby gave us plenty of ideas and suggestions, even before we booked. She was very responsive throughout the process via email and we had a few calls with her to lock down our choices and to go over our schedule of events. The music sounded great and we especially liked that she was willing, and excited, to play more contemporary music for us. We are so glad we booked Abby for our wedding!

We loved having Abby play the music at our ceremony! She was glad to play the song we wanted and helped us to pick other songs for the ceremony when we didn't know what to choose. We highly recommend her!

Abby was fantastic! We worked together on music for the ceremony and she was great at suggesting prices that fit my style (the wedding was in a greenhouse, so not super formal). The trio was beautiful on our wedding day and it was a pleasure working with her on the planning, even long distance from Chicago!

Abby played violin at our ceremony this past summer. She was wonderful. As our guests were seated, she was willing to play exactly what we wanted, or said she could just play a variety of classical tunes, so I trusted her to play whatever she chose. When I asked that a somewhat obscure song be played while I walked down the aisle, she had no problem accommodating my request! Her playing was so beautiful, I had to take an extra deep breath before walking down the aisle because I was nearly moved to tears. I think her fee is really reasonable for what you get. You can also add other musicians if you want an ensemble. She was prompt, professional, and played beautifully. I couldn't ask for more! Highly recommend.

Jessica was a great violinest and Abby was a breeze to work with throughout the planning stages. I'd picked out the music months in advance during a face-to-face meeting with Abby, and she kept great notes and had the exact segments of each song notated so Jessica could perform exactly what we anticipated.
