401 Gourmet Caterers

We can't say enough good things about 401 Gourmet. When we first tried their food, we loved it and they ended up being a reasonable price too. We looked at 4 different caterers for our wedding, and they were the best hands down. The planning process was great, always so responsive with emails. They also did a lot of extra work on the day of the wedding that was above and beyond. For some background, our wedding was at Roger Williams botanical center which has no extra items that come with it so we rented tables, chairs, linens and goblets from a separate rental company. They set up everything in the greenhouse in the limited time they had to set up the day of. We had our chairs switch over to a different room after the ceremony and they helped move all of them. We had ordered desserts/cake from a separate company and didn’t have any display shelves. 401 brought extra display shelves for everything and set up all the desserts when it was time. I am a foodie who is also vegetarian and the passed hors d'oeuvres were all vegetarian, and they were all amazing and we got so many comments that everyone (non vegetarians included) loved all of them. The dinner was a buffet of food that we chose and all if it was so good, even better than when we had our trial run. We had a great variety, and everything was properly labeled. I want to plan another event just so I can have their food again cause I’m still dreaming about how good all of it was.

We used 401 Gourmet for my daughter's engagement party (160 people). Elizabeth responded to my initial inquiry quickly and throughout the process answering questions, providing images, and asking all the right questions to help guide me in decision making.
On the day of the event, Mark showed up to run the operations for the entire event, and Elizabeth came in to assure all was in place from the start. The staff got right to work setting up - incredibly friendly and enthusiastic for the party. Throughout the night they checked in with me, were responsive, proactive, and incredibly efficient, staying on timing for the evening. Just super friendly and attentive.

THE FOOD!
Scallops wrapped in bacon appetizer are a must! Just fantastic! The buffet dinner was perfectly executed - we had the steak poivre, roasted chicken, salmon along with other items. Everything was cooked to perfection and delicious! I appreciated that all items came with potential allergen information (eg "contains dairy") and the professional presentation.

Elizabeth was outstanding, accommodating and helpful. We planned our wedding from Ohio with a specific menu in mind. The menu was changed several times and Elizabeth never got annoyed or upset with my requests. Everyone raved about the appetizers, the food, and the deserts, The presentation at the venue was charming and exactly as I had hoped. She even brought my husband and I an appetizer sampler since we were taking photos and missed cocktail hour. Elizabeth was so on point. I am so happy we went with 401. Elizabeth and her team made our day flawless!!!!

The food was especially delicious and was presented beautifully. Special dishes were made to accommodate certain guests, we loved every minute.

401 Gourmet was incredible! From the tasting, where we were treated like royalty, to the wedding day itself, everything was incredible. The food and desserts were absolutely delicious and our guests couldn’t stop raving about it. You can tell their team puts a lot of thought into their service and we appreciate them putting so much work into our big day! We’ll be bragging about our caterer for years to come!

Chef Mike is nothing short of a culinary genius — every dish was flawless and bursting with flavor. Our guests could not stop raving about the food, and many told us it was the best wedding meal they’d ever had.

Elizabeth handled all the coordination, including rentals, with incredible professionalism, responsiveness, and warmth. She made the entire process stress-free and made us feel so comfortable every step of the way. On the day of the wedding, she even surprised us by bringing hors d'oeuvres for just the two of us to enjoy before we were announced into the reception — such a thoughtful gesture that gave us a private, joyful moment together (and kept us from being completely starving!).

The serving staff were equally wonderful — pleasant, attentive, and so professional. They made sure everything ran smoothly and that every guest was well taken care of.

Although we didn’t have as much interaction with Mark, he was always positive and super friendly. The food was delicious and we had so much positive feedback about the food and desserts!
