The Best Caterer
We can't say enough good things about 401 Gourmet. When we first tried their food, we loved it and they ended up being a reasonable price too. We looked at 4 different caterers for our wedding, and they were the best hands down. The planning process was great, always so responsive with emails. They also did a lot of extra work on the day of the wedding that was above and beyond. For some background, our wedding was at Roger Williams botanical center which has no extra items that come with it so we rented tables, chairs, linens and goblets from a separate rental company. They set up everything in the greenhouse in the limited time they had to set up the day of. We had our chairs switch over to a different room after the ceremony and they helped move all of them. We had ordered desserts/cake from a separate company and didn’t have any display shelves. 401 brought extra display shelves for everything and set up all the desserts when it was time. I am a foodie who is also vegetarian and the passed hors d'oeuvres were all vegetarian, and they were all amazing and we got so many comments that everyone (non vegetarians included) loved all of them. The dinner was a buffet of food that we chose and all if it was so good, even better than when we had our trial run. We had a great variety, and everything was properly labeled. I want to plan another event just so I can have their food again cause I’m still dreaming about how good all of it was.

We used 401 Gourmet for my daughter's engagement party (160 people). Elizabeth responded to my initial inquiry quickly and throughout the process answering questions, providing images, and asking all the right questions to help guide me in decision making.
On the day of the event, Mark showed up to run the operations for the entire event, and Elizabeth came in to assure all was in place from the start. The staff got right to work setting up - incredibly friendly and enthusiastic for the party. Throughout the night they checked in with me, were responsive, proactive, and incredibly efficient, staying on timing for the evening. Just super friendly and attentive.
THE FOOD!
Scallops wrapped in bacon appetizer are a must! Just fantastic! The buffet dinner was perfectly executed - we had the steak poivre, roasted chicken, salmon along with other items. Everything was cooked to perfection and delicious! I appreciated that all items came with potential allergen information (eg "contains dairy") and the professional presentation.

We cannot recommend 401 Gourmet highly enough! From start to finish, they were an absolute dream to work with. Chef Mike is nothing short of a culinary genius — every dish was flawless and bursting with flavor. Our guests could not stop raving about the food, and many told us it was the best wedding meal they’d ever had.
Elizabeth handled all the coordination, including rentals, with incredible professionalism, responsiveness, and warmth. She made the entire process stress-free and made us feel so comfortable every step of the way. On the day of the wedding, she even surprised us by bringing hors d'oeuvres for just the two of us to enjoy before we were announced into the reception — such a thoughtful gesture that gave us a private, joyful moment together (and kept us from being completely starving!).
The serving staff were equally wonderful — pleasant, attentive, and so professional. They made sure everything ran smoothly and that every guest was well taken care of.
401 Gourmet went above and beyond in every way and truly helped make our wedding day unforgettable. If you’re lucky enough to have them cater your wedding, you’re in for an amazing experience. -

We cannot say enough wonderful things about our experience with 401 Gourmet! From the very beginning of the planning process, they were professional, accommodating, and an absolute pleasure to work with. They took the time to understand our vision for the day and made everything feel effortless, which gave us complete peace of mind leading up to the wedding.
The food itself was nothing short of exceptional. Every dish was fresh, flavorful, and made to order on site, which added such a unique and special touch to our celebration. The quality was evident in every bite, and we had countless guests come up to us throughout the evening to compliment not only how delicious the food was but also how beautifully it was presented. It truly elevated the entire reception.

Mark and Elizabeth went beyond the call to provide a perfect wedding for us. They were completely responsive to all our suggestions and most importantly all the food was absolutely delicious- perfectly cooked swordfish and steak, seasoned risotto, amazing lobster rolls and tuna tartare apps among others. Everyone raved. It was easy, they took care of everything and incredibly reasonable compared to other vendors who d not offer that level of food quality. -

We couldn't have asked for a better vendor for our wedding! The tasting in their facility was beautifully set up, and gave us a hard time to choose, as everything was delicious.
They were so professional and easy to work with, and managed to set up all their services at a remote location.
Their staff was polite and attentive, and all our guests were blown away by the hors d'oeuvres and food.

Gourmet 401 served our 90 person backyard wedding and every single person raved about how good the food was! Mark truly is an exceptional chef and the quality of food is that of a five star restaurant. The staff were friendly, kind, and professional serving our plated meal and passed appetizers with ease. Our menu consisted of steak, chicken, and vegan meals — we chose do to additional late night snacks and they even served mini vegan sliders for our meatless guests! We cannot recommend 401 Gourmet enough! Such an incredible experience, you will be so glad you chose them and so will your guests!! -

I was hard pressed on having a wedding with food people would actually like. Not a little filet, with a squirt of mash potatoes. Mark made my dream happen. With lots of out of towners I really wanted Rhode Island staples. We had stuffies, lobster rolls and clam cakes. My new husband is a bit pickier, so we also had some delicious sliders for the less adventurous folks.
Mark is a small/medium sized business owner that has less admin to help him communicate. Despite this, he works so hard to still make sure he's being as responsive as possible. I was so incredibly happy with our choice to go with him instead of one of the "big guys".
He hustles, he listened to all of my needs, and he made my dream wedding food happen. I could not be more grateful for him and his team. Truly an incredible business owner THANK YOU MARK!!! -

If you’re looking for your wedding caterer, look no further!
Mark who owns and runs 401 Gourmet was an absolute pleasure to work with. From balancing the dynamics of parents wanting to be involved with our planning to making sure he perfected absolutely everything for us, he and his team CRUSHED it!
The menu was delicious and all of our meal options and cocktail hour apps were adored by our guests. He checked in with us throughout the night to see how everything was and it was so appreciated.
We highly recommend anyone who is considering to book a tasting with Mark, he and his team will not disappoint! -

Amazing Food and Service
Mark and his team served passed apps and dessert & coffee at my wedding on Sept 10, 2022 and they were AMAZING. All of the guests raved about how great the food was and guests were literally running to get to the lobster rolls first. We also had a lot of guests and they did an amazing job of keeping enough food coming at a good pace.
In addition to the excellent quaity of the food and the great service, Mark was a pleasure to work with throughout the planning process. He was responsive, he made great recommendations, and he put up with me constantly changing my mind.
Mark also coordinated our silverware, dishware, linen, table, chair, etc. rentals via a company that he works with. Everything worked out great with the rentals and Mark was great at coordinating everything so that we didn't have to worry.
I would not hesitate to hire Mark and his team for your event! -

Mark catered our wedding and we couldn't be happier! He was so patient and flexible as he worked with us to put together a delicious menu that reflected our vision for our wedding food. He was also so helpful in thinking about all the details that we wouldn't have thought about, and was very responsive to all emails and questions- we knew from our first meeting that we were in great hands. In addition to the food being delicious, it's also presented beautifully. Our guests commented on how it was the most delicious wedding food they'd ever had, as well as how elegant everything looked. We served salmon to 90 people and it was cooked to perfection, as if you were sitting down at a restaurant at a table for two. The whole 401 Gourmet Crew was helpful and friendly throughout the entire night. We can't recommend 401 Gourmet enough!401 Gourmet Caterers's reply:
