Want to Cancel Photographer? Need help

brittany, on September 26, 2012 at 2:35 PM Posted in Planning 0 7

I booked a photographer that did my friends wedding last year and he did a great job, so I booked him fairly quickly after I got engaged. We then booked an egagement session with him and I did not like the pictures AT ALL. So now I'm super worried. I found another photographer that did my boudoir session (as FH gift) and LOVED her. She's amazing and would cost the same price as the guy that I booked. I was so comfortable with her and the pictures came out wonderfully. I've been looking at her weddings and she is 100times better then the photographer that I booked. What should I do? The pictures are the only think I'm going to have at the end of all this and I don't want to hate them. Should I cancel my photographer? I've already paid $1600 and I beileve its non-refundable. Is it worth loosing that money for having GREAT pictures?

Humm, well first I would read through your contract. And second that is quite a bit of money Brittany. But I believe pictures are one of the most important aspects of your wedding as they will be with you for a lifetime. So you definatley want somebody with whom u are comfortable with and that takes amazing photos. If it were me I think that I would probably cancel and go with the other photographer. Good Luck.

I lost $1,000 for changing my photographer and I never regretted it. She was suppose to do our engagement pictures and the dates kept getting changed and then she started with an attitude and I said that is it. So if you are not happy with the pictures I would cancel, who did you boudoir session?? I still want to do that for DH

Thanks ya'll. I know $1600 is A LOT of money thats why I don't want to cancel but it's been weighing on me. :/ I just wish I would've done my research beforehand.

Amy, thanks for your response. I didn't like the way he posed us it felt very forced and not comfortable, and his editing was not good. I had to edit ALL of my pictures myself for the guest book. To his defence he's is very nice and we had about 5 out 250 that we really liked but I feel like we shouldve had more. I know I'm not going to like all the pictures but 5? The girl who did my boudoir photos I loved all the pictures and I was half naked in lingirie lol and I'm pretty critcal of my body. i feel like most women are...

Hi Christine, thanks for the advice. I'm glad if I change I wouldn't be the only one. A girl named Ashley Victoria did my boudoir in Florida on the beach. It was actually a lot of fun. I would highly reccomend it. Its something I think any groom would love plus you can make it a very affordable gift.

Here's her website if anyone wants to check it out and let me know what they think. http://www.photographybyashleyvictoria.com/

Your pictures are the part of your wedding that you have forever, my opinion is that if you really do not like your photographer you have booked and aren't comfortable than re-book with one that you are.

If you can afford it, go for it. Also, I would read through that contract very carefully.

Thanks everyone for the advice. I think I'm going to go through the budget and see if I can afford it first and then go from there. I just wanted to make sure it wasn't crazy to just change photogrphers like that.

    Thanks!
