NWR: My puppy
Ok, for those of you who saw my other post about my new puppy (the chihuahua yorkie mix). Yesterday we got his booster shot so that he wouldn't get sick. He had a bad reaction to it. He was throwing up all day yesterday and this morning he couldn't move his neck or stand up. We took him to the vet and they said that they needed to get him rehydrated and he needed his temp back up to normal. So we left him there to be taken care of. A few minutes ago the vet called to tell us our puppy didn't make it. My FH and I are completely heartbroken. But at least we still have our other dog.

Someone showed me this when I lost my cat after 15 years. It helped to know they are still happy.

I'm so sorry. I found a little kitten once and it slept with me and I woke up every 2 hours to feed the little thing. But he never wanted to eat and then he started walking funny. Vet told me I had to put him down, the hardest thing ever. Even though they're so young you automatically fall in love. But there are a lot of great animals out there. Even though you didn't have the puppy long you gave him/her the best life...even if it was short.

When we got him from the local animal shelter they told us that he had worms. They're easy to get rid of. But now I think there had to be something else wrong with him. I don't think puppies usually die from getting their booster shots

Omg I am so sorry that happened! It must be so traumatic... I hope that your other dog is OK and that you can have all the time you need with your other dog until you can start to feel better. Losing a pet is always hard... you're in my thoughts

Yea, That doesn't sound right. Does the vet know the cause? Does the vet have any further information on what exactly happened?

Thanks everyone.
The only thing we know is that he had a bad reaction to the shot and that it left him dehydrated with a low temperature. So they tried to rehydrate him and get his temp up slowly so that his heart could adjust. I guess he just couldn't take it.

*hugs* That's so awful. I'm so sorry to hear that. My FH and I got a puppy about a year ago and she passed from parvo about two weeks later, which we came to learn that the shelter knew about and just didn't want to tell us. We were heartbroken for a long time over her, and it's still a tender subject with Stephen. So we send our sympathies to you and hope this doesn't cause you to give up. Hundreds of puppies and kitties are out there, waiting for you to love them. And I don't doubt your little one is in puppy heaven playing with our baby Gin.

Did the dog have Parvo? Somewhat common in shelter dogs, and is deadly in puppies. By the time you see symptoms, it is usually too late. Vomiting, diahhrea, etc. If it was Parvo, the shelter should be notified as it is highly contagious.

Sorry this happened.

Thanks guys. I'm doing a lot better than I was earlier. We don't think it was parvo.
