Is anyone NOT doing video?

Summerbridejen, on July 24, 2014 at 3:59 PM Posted in Planning 0 42

I wasn't planning on it, then I thought ok maybe its not bad but out of my budget...now I am thinking I want one because I love those trailers lol... We could come up with the money, just don't know what to do.

I think the consensus on here is 50/50, but from what I've heard the people who have gotten a videographer are so pleased that they did. It was one of the things on my "must have" list and I'm certain it will be worth every penny! Photos can only do so much.

I wasn't going to have a videographer but was planning on doing something like this:

    http://www.storymixmedia.com/weddingmix/

But then my FH reminded me that our phone cameras record in 1080P HD and rather than paying for someone to do this for us, we could just pop in new miniSD's and have others do the shooting (same concept as the link above, just without the edits).

I'm not. I know I'll never watch it again so it's a waste of money for us.

I'm not doing one... I am sure it's nice to have but I just don't think I need one.

I wont be doing a video. Personally I think it is a waste of money. Spend the money on a great photographer then you don't need video. The thing with a video is you watch it a few times when you first get it and then you put it away somewhere and you don't watch it anymore.

We're not either. I'd rather put the money towards something else besides we barely have time to watch tv let alone a video regardless of whose in it.

No way. I hate watching videos of myself. I'm spending $ on a kick ass photographer instead.

I'm not and I won't miss it. I had one for my first wedding and when the dog ate it I didn't even get upset because we had never watched it since the first time we watched when we got home from the honeymoon.

No video for us. I don't watch them on here. I think video impact is 90% music choice. I could make a slideshow of amazing photos with music and it would be lovely too.

My friends didn't do video, and those that did haven't cared to look at it. I didn't want to spend the $ on it.

We are splurging a lot of pictures and that's what I always knew I would do. I knew that I was definitely not going to pay a videographer that much money...most of them want the same amount as really nice photographers! One of my best friends and bridesmaids is very techy and has her own video camera. She offered to gift us a video. My bridesmaids are going to pass the camera around while we get ready, then the groomsmen while they are. Her husband or someone else will record the ceremony, and then it will get passed around at the reception. She has fancy video editing software and will edit and put it all together for us. I'm excited Smiley smile I know it's going to be very amateur, but I think it's super sweet.

@diybeachweddingbabe That's awesome that your friends are taking footage at your wedding on their phones! Even if you don't use WeddingMix, I'm so glad you'll be getting a wedding video. Smiley smile

How are you going to get all the clips and photos from them and edit it into a video? We did just come out w new packages last week so you can get an edited highlight video and all the photos and videos for under a hundred bucks. Definitely helps in the budget department. Smiley smile

I think it would be nice, mostly for our kids to be able to see someday. But we don't have any budget for it. So I'm planning to ask a friend who has a nice camera if she would be willing to set it up just to video the ceremony and maybe some random moments at the reception, because it would be cool.

I'm not. I think I'll be a lot more likely to look at photos than a video.

I am a video producer (I make commercials though..absolutely zero experience in wedding videography) and I'm not doing one, I feel like that is so contrary to me as a person. I'm thinking of getting one of the guys I work with to come shoot it and pay them like $500 just to shoot and I can edit (I think even if we did have a videographer from a business that specializes in weddings I'd rather edit it myself). It just didn't fit in the budget and I don't really see us watching it a ton...I was definitely more concerned with getting a great photographer.
