I wasn't planning on it, then I thought ok maybe its not bad but out of my budget...now I am thinking I want one because I love those trailers lol... We could come up with the money, just don't know what to do.

We aren't. I grew up staring at my parents' wedding album dreaming that one day I'd have my dream wedding. Since that was enough for me, I'd really like my future children to be able to do the same with ours so that's why I'm splurging on a very very good photographer instead of splitting the cost between video and photos.

As of right now, we are not... i'm starting to push FH for it though. at first, i was like, "no, we don't need it. just a good photog." then i was like, "those videos are pretty cool... it would be nice to have..." now i'm at the, "i'm really bummed and i feel like this is something i'm really going to regret not doing. Smiley sad" FH doesn't agree and is saying no. ... i'm sad.

I think it would be great to have video, but we just can't afford it.

I know I'll survive without it. Smiley tongue

We are going to be doing "WedPics". It is a free App that people can download on their phone. The guests can record video or take pictures and upload it to our wedding site. It is free. I just made cards today to give to the guests and the ceremony and reception to remind them to install the app. I have already FB people and I will be texting them as well to inform the about the app. I heard that it works really well. So, I'm excited for guests to help us capture our special moments.

I'm not watching the video maybe once, or years down the road. I can't see spending that kind of money for something that I will have etched in my brain don't need a video to remember.

One time in my life I could think it might be necessary. If you lose the one you love suddenly after a short period of time.. then possibly but not sure that would help or make life worse.

We aren't. We can't afford one on our budget. Which is crazy because I thought we actually had a decent size budget. Everything in NJ is so expensive!

We really wanted one though. Everyone who has one seems to say it was well worth the money spent.

I'd say that most of my couples don't.

Not hiring a professional videographer, but my uncle did agree to videotape our ceremony and first dance. And I'm also more likely to look at photos instead of a video.

@Miss to Mrs, my FH and I will not be having any children (he can't) so there will be no need to pass it down. Besides there are plenty of other events we can take video at that are not incredibly over priced.

Even if we had extra money to spend (which we don't) i wouldn't get a videographer. if it's important to you then it would be worth every penny. personally, we are picture people and i hate watching myself on video - same as what others have mentioned above. we totally splurged on am AMAZING photographer and i know she will capture our special day perfectly!

    No.

I don't like to see video of myself, or hearing a recording of the sound of my voice. lol.

I will say that I heard a videographer promoting themselves and they mentioned video gives you the opportunity to see the look on everyone's faces, not just the captured images of the groom. I would maybe like to see if my MOH is making faces behind me or something, haha.

We're not simply having a because it's not in the budget. As a compromise, FH's good friend puts together a video of their Fellas Weekend trip every year and does a pretty good job. So he's going to video the important moments and do a video for us. However, if you can afford it, I say do it. You don't want to regret not doing one if it's something you really want.

See that's the thing I don't really want I just feel like I'm going to miss out on something. I have been married in the past and the video collected dust but videos have come along way and I love those little trailers. But for three minute trailer it's not worth spending that amount of money. I did find someone for half the price that is supposed be reputable but I spoke to my fiancé and we decided to just keep the memories and In my head.Plus I am the type to go back to the video see things that annoy me or write myself a part of things that I said or did or wish that I could. So we decided definitely against a video and we will just get a really nice album. We did spend a very good amount and pictures so I think that is good. Plus I think I could make a video of the pictures set to music. Through shutter fly or something like that. So that's good enough for me. Thank you ladies for confirming what I already knew I wanted to do and I am not having video.

I wasn't going to until my FSIL said she wished she had. I'm investing in the least expensive package the business offers just so I can have it. I know I won't watch it often but, I know I won't be pulling out the wedding pictures all that often either. It's personal preference. I totally understand what Miss to Mrs stated. It will be a keepsake that my daugther and granddaughter will have.

We're not. I kind of wanted to, but FH thinks its a waste of money. I about had him convinced to have the Racer TV guy (thats who films GNCC races for TV), come and do the video (hes friends with the head of it), however the guy broke his leg in three places when an ATV hit him, so we dropped that idea.

@Elfie, thanks for the great idea about adding music to the photo slideshow. My SIL does these all the time and they are always amazing. I am going to see if she could put one together for us using some of the songs from our wedding.

Three days before our wedding I hired a videographer and for $300 he video'd just the ceremony and I'm SOOO happy I did, to me it's priceless. He also stuck around while we were getting our portraits done and incorporated some nice shots of us posing for photos. I would have regretted not having this. I almost regret not doing the whole thing but I didn't want a camera in my face the whole night.
