Hey-has any one used staples or kinkos or a similar store to print their invites?

how much did it cost you?

Im not sure If I will just buy ink and print at home or use a place like this and trying to compare the 2.

thanks

I used office max and they screwed them up so bad that they had to buy all new and they comped our order. I called Staples and Kinko's both and the 16 y/o working at Staples said "yea, we can do 'em but we screw up about half of them because our machine eats them." and Kinko's flat out refused to print them.

My programs and seating chart is at Kinkos right now. I dropped them off yesterday, they said to come back in an hour for them but the printer was leaving ink splatter on the pages so they called their tech guy in to clean the printer and check it out. I will probably pick them up later.. if not this weekend. I am paying $.59 per page I can fit two program pages on one page. They are cutting them for me and it was $3.00 all together for them to cut the pages to size.

    .

I looked into staples but they dont let you bring your own paper in so I crossed them off the list!

Tried to, I even bought my invites through a store just for them to tell me that "We don't print on that size paper.." Ummmm, then why do you sell it? Anyway, I've gotten my business cards screwed up everytime (which is 3 now) that I've had them printed at Kinkos. And my sister had her placecards done at Office Max and they were cut sooo bad that I had to call and have them do new ones. I couldn't even fix them and I'm pretty crafty!

I went through Magnetstreet.com and at $2.10 an invite (that's thick cardstock, 2 two-sided enclosure cards, one two-sided RSVP, RSVP & Invitation envelopes), their quality, customer service, was amazing!!! I don't regret spending a bit more because they were absolutely how I pictured them to be!

We also went to Kinkos and they turned out great. Ours was also $.59 per piece of paper (full color). One thing to note, have you're design layed out exactly as you want it printed before you go in (however many you have on a page) or they will charge a $10 enhancement fee.

Oh, I was going to say too that we started with the print at home idea. For like 50 invites I'd think you'd save money, but anything more than that ink cost gets pricey, it's a pain in the rear, and our printer when we did our STDs started putting lines in all of them.

Okay, I'm done now Smiley smile

I would recommend Kinkos. I did most of my printing there. The couple of times I tried Staples b/c it was more convenient or I was there for something else, they screwed it up. With Staples you can get someone who's filling in from another department. Kinko's that's what they do. I did a few things at home like labels and such but for larger jobs, save the wear and tear on your home printer. You will feed it ink cartridges anyways.

Staples probably doesn't allow just any paper to be brought in because there is a difference in paper types. Some are for inkjet printers, others are for laser printing, and most people don't know this, and try to print on papers that are not specific to their printer types. If they don't know where the paper is coming from, they cannot guarantee their work.

One thing to remember is that Staples and Office Max are office supply companies, their main business is not necessarily printing.

That being said . . . if the quality is important to you, you might look for a small printing company, like one that has a digital copier. A family owned business takes more pride in their work, and generally provide better quality service.
