GET A DAY-OF-COORDINATOR--NO MATTER WHAT. No matter what the owner says, spend the extra 200-300 dollars to ensure you will have a worry-free, responsibility-free wedding day. I WISH I did.

I was really excited about this venue. I was excited about the price, which was a BARGAIN for what it was. When we initially sat down with the owner, she seemed very confident that she would be able to handle the wedding and that she would take care of everything. It wasn't until the few weeks before the wedding that I noticed she wasn't as responsible as I was hoping. It should have been a clue to what the wedding day would look like. When we just before the wedding, she didn't have the updated wedding contract, so I had to repeat what I requested on the contract. I was told they would have an aisle runner and pillars I could use, but was told eventually that they didn't have them. When I told her what I was envisioning for the set up of the cake table, the signature table, all of that, she said she would have it taken care of. I was also told I would have access to the venue at 8am to set everything up until a week before the wedding when she told me we wouldn't be able to get in until 3pm because I do not want to have to do anything on my wedding day, so someone else (ie my mom) could do it when they opened the restaurant up at 3pm. The wedding started at 5.

So..... wedding day comes. It's 3pm and my mom and the DJ are there for set up. No one is there. The DJ, thankfully, had her number. She eventually got someone there to open up the restaurant. By the time I got there at 4pm, nothing had been set up because they didn't have enough time at that point and people were already showing up. I went upstairs to avoid seeing the people coming in and was expecting to have appetizers. They brought 1 plate of each appetizer for a group of about 10 or more--with my wedding party, parents and grandparents. The owner kept coming up and asking if I wanted alcohol over and over again... maybe if I was buzzed enough I wouldn't notice any of the other things that were wrong.

It wasn't until after the ceremony that I noticed the 36" round cake table was significantly smaller than it needed to be and the decorations I had made were placed on the floor. About 100 of the cupcakes were still in the back and weren't brought out even after my cupcakes were all gone. I didn't even get a chance to taste all of the different flavors of the cupcakes. One of my guests who had arrived early told me that the owner had been sampling my cupcakes as they were being set up, and most of my guests didn't get all three flavors of cupcakes as was planned. When we got the remaining cake at the end of the night, none of the leftover cupcakes were included in with the box. So, 100 cupcakes went rogue....or someone brought the cupcakes home... and it wasn't me.

I hadn't noticed because I was too busy trying to coordinate the different events happening, but my mom mentioned that the floors and table cloths were filthy.

And THEN, probably worst of all, during my maid of honor's toast, one of the restaurant staff turned on the house music LOUDLY and it took, what seemed like forever, to turn it off. By then, the mood was killed and no one was paying attention to the toast. I was PISSED. It's not the Oscars, there's no 10-second max for speeches.

Any time we needed anything, we had to chase down the owner or grab a staff member to find her (if they could). When we wanted more food at the bride and groom table, specifically the East West Chicken, which was DIVINE, we were told they were out. So, we got plain chicken skewers with no sauce. It was not a good substitution.

The evening dancing was fine. We had a security guard protecting the downstairs patrons from coming in. A lot of people made it past security, but were kicked out quickly by either security or my brother. I had to tell them OFTEN who had come in that wasn't part of our group.

The sliders appetizers in the evening didn't come out until I had to ask a staff member to track down the owner to bring the sliders up. They told me the kitchen might be closed because it was close to midnight, when the food was supposed to be out around 10:30.

The bartender was SO GREAT!!!!!!!! The servers were great in helping me track down the owners and accomodating me as much as they could.

Unfortunately, on my big day, I did A LOT more work than I was assured that I would have to do, which made it stressful and not as enjoyable.

For the money, it was a great deal. If I had to go back and do it all over again, I would have spent the extra few hundred dollars and hired the day-of-coordinator and insisted on getting there at 8am to do the set up on my own. I wish it had run more smoothly, but you only get married once! No doing this over again!

Most important: our guests loved The Bungalow Club! It was very atmospheric, the perfect setting for our evening cocktail wedding. The food is great and the drinks are strong, we plugged in an iPod into the restaurant's sound system and everyone danced all night. The value of what we got compared to what we paid was very high.

If I could do it again I would have assigned someone to be my bulldog for the night, I found that when I raised issues they were dealt with immediately but I did have to go raise them myself which took me out of the zone a bit. The venue staff are AMAZING, friendly and quick all night long even when my guests were three sheets to the wind and getting silly.

Other than that, I would say my main advice is, GET SPECIFICS. We were promised a lot of food served all night, and what food we had was great, but the amount of food was not the overwhelming amount that had been described to us, and supply petered out around 10pm even though my guests were still going strong. Even the bride and groom could not get a slider once they'd gone around the dance floor once! (Since we chose the Bungalow Club in part because of how much we loved the sliders, not getting any was a disappointment.) Also, there was some confusion about when the bar was open, and when it WAS open which drinks were included in the package we had. I wish I would have asked for the specifics of the bar package ahead of time so I could have briefed my guests, rather than having people come up to me all night because they had to pay $12 for a Long Island unexpectedly.

I would recommend the Bungalow Club to future brides (though maybe ones more organized than me!) aside from some small issues we were very pleased with the wedding we received there and it was very worth the money.

One drawback about the Bungalow Club: it's small. The patio can only comfortably seat about 100 people (120 max). Fortunately for us, my husband and I were looking for the perfect excuse to trim down our guest list anyway. Having the Bungalow Club was a huge weight off our shoulders. The food is varied and tasty; the vibe is cool, casual and intimate at the same time; the patio is gorgeous at night; Anat, the owner, is great to work with (but not always easy to reach); and, best of all, it's AFFORDABLE. We saved a lot of money and effort, and many people told us it was one of the most fun and easygoing weddings they'd been to in a long while.

This is a tough review. My guests loved the reception here at the Bungalow Club. The manager of the night (Omar?) was awesome. He allowed us to dance the night away until 1am on a Sunday/Monday morning and didn't skip a beat when my guests were so drunk that they kept dropping wine glasses on the floor. The bartenders and service staff were exceptional! Most of the food was excellent - I'd say the appetizers are the best and they really do keep them flowing.

The troubles came on the planning end. I think Anat the owner was overwhelmed with too many weddings. Shes nice enough and wants to do a good job but you have to really remind and stay on top of what you want from her. Little things like we wanted the staff to bring out sliders and fries late in the evening, as she has done at other weddings. This didnt happen. They came out instead at cocktail hour. Then there was the day of decorating. She did not properly guide us through when to make this happen. I told her my friends would be there at a certain time, and they were. She was not. They tried calling her and she didnt pick up day of! So they started prepping flower arrangements outside. Once I called her, and she got my voicemail (why didnt she take the Brides call? ☺ ) she had one of her workers open the door and let my friends in. Things were not set up like they were supposed to be. Thank god I have the most amazing friends who were late to the ceremony because they were setting up the reception space!

For the money, it was still worth it. But be very, very clear about what you want and think about hiring your own day-of wedding coordinator to make sure it is a smooth transition. Im deeply indebted to my friends!

I really did love this venue when I first saw it! It was everything I wanted; something different, unique, and would need minimal decorations! They were very quick to respond to my inquiry when I first contacted them and up until the wedding day. Anat, the owner, assured me every time I saw her to not stress or worry because everything would be taken care of, which it was for the most part. The only dislike I had about this venue was that they had booked an "after party" the same day as my wedding. When I came to setup with friends and family the "after party" was still going on and the place was thrashed! They got everyone out 45 minutes later as we were setting up inside, and only had one person cleaning the outside patio where my ceremony was supposed to happen in 3 hours! I am a clean freak, so to my dismay the place was not cleaned to my standards. The upstairs where the bridal party was getting ready was still dirty. The floors were sticky (my makeup artist literally had to bend down to rip her shoe off the floor), the bathrooms smelled and were not properly stocked. My maid of honor was on top of it and demanded these things be fixed, and only then were they done once told to do so. Another thing that bothered me was that the owner was passing out food to my guests wearing jeans and a tank top. It was not a super formal event, but not a jeans and t-shirt event either!

However, the staff was great for the most part. I think the owner knew we were upset and our open bar ran for almost an hour longer than it should have! Which I felt was their way of compensating me (thank you!). My guests loved the food and the nonstop flowing alcohol. I also hired a photobooth that fit perfectly by the bar and to save $$$ the owner suggested we just plug in our ipod to their equipment instead of a DJ! It worked great!

I would recommend this venue because it is unique and they keep the food and drinks coming with a smile! However, I would make sure that they DO NOT double book on your wedding day and that they are clear about your dress code. They were a great place and they were there to make your day fun, not charge you an arm and a leg just because it's a wedding!

We just had our wedding at the Bungalow Club in July. Anat, the owner, is marvelous! She is super responsive, professional, and overall just great. She made our reception amazing.

I would recommend The Bungalow Club for couples that are looking for something different in their wedding venue. The Bungalow Club is hip and relaxed while at the same it provides a high quality, polished service. This isn't your standard cookie-cutter wedding venue and that's the best part!

A huge two thumbs up!
