The 94th Aero Squadron is a hidden gem at the Van Nuys Airport. I love old Hollywood and the style of the early 20th century. The venue offers nostalgic American charm. Imagine your guests watching private jets and vintage airplanes up close. It's like your own private airshow. People are still raving about how wonderful the entire experience is.

I can't believe how accommodating and wonderful Debi and her whole team are! They are fantastic, warm and you can tell that they want to make each event special! They made me feel like a queen, and that was wonderful! I have only had positive feedback from my wedding guests, and have been told that this wedding is going down as one of the top of all time!

We were on a serious budget and they really helped us make our wedding reception a truly memorable and beautiful day. We had 75 guests. Cocktail hour started outside on the porch and guests got to watch as private planes flew in and out while sipping on cocktails and enjoying passed hors d'oeuvres (crab stuffed mushrooms, prosciutto wrapped scallops, caprese skewers and these little baked brie bites).

The reception itself was in the Rickenbacker Room (but the outside space was available with the fire pits all night and guests took advantage of both the inside and outside spaces).

We chose the middle package sit down dinner. The prime rib and the chicken were both fantastic, and they kept my vegetarian sister happy too. Everyone loved the food, the atmosphere and of course the 2 hours open bar! Yogi was our bartender, and his charisma added even more sparkle to this already perfect night.

I used to frequent the 94th Aero Squadron for happy hour after work and never really thought much more about it than that. When we went to see it for a potential venue for our wedding and reception, we were immediately impressed and booked it on the spot. Not only is the 94th more flexible, accomodating and caring, but anything that I wanted for my special day was INCLUDED!!! Most other venues charge and nickel/dime you for everything (linens, chair covers, nice chairs, etc.) but the 94th includes everything. The food was beyond anything I could have hoped for. I am very picky and choosy and was so worried that the food would not be good, especially when cooking for large amounts of people and I was blown away - as were all my guests. Everyone is still talking about how good, fresh and flavorful everything was. I can't wait to go back there for dinner!!! I had about 60 people at the wedding and my total bill, with bar, ceremony, buffet, etc. was less than $5,000. The 94th knows how to transform their restaurant to a beautiful and amazing wedding - I HIGHLY recommend that you go there and check it out - ask for Patrick.

My new husband and I have attended brunch at the 94th many times before our marriage so we knew when we approached them to use the venue for our ceremony and reception that the food would be exceptional. Karen Potter, our contact at the 94th was very helpful, cooperative and professional. She helped us arrange the details for our ceremony in the Bunker, which looks like a bombed out French farm house. I have always loved the decor of the restaurant with it's WWI and WWII aviation memorabilia. We both thought it would be fun and entertaining to get married here. Karen advised us on our menu, catering details and other services available. She answered our questions fully and was a huge help nailing down the details necessary for a smooth reception. She kept in contact with us in the months before the day of our wedding. On the happy day, she was very accommodating, letting us get in early to decorate and set up for the ceremony. She and her staff were great when we realized we needed more chairs and place settings because we forgot to update our guest count. They were lightning quick to place the extra seats and dishes. We were very grateful for their understanding and cooperation. Karen helped with guest crowd control, getting the wedding party set and sending the us down the aisle. Our head waiter Morales was professional and super efficient. He and the staff were energetic, smiling and attentive to us and our guests. Glasses stayed filled, dishes were whisked away with deft ease and of course, the food was superb. When Karen was going over the menu I told her please don't let the chicken be dry, she made a note of this and sure enough the Rosemary chicken was moist and tender! It was this attention to detail that impressed me the most. Our ceremony went off without a hitch and the reception was a lot of fun. I would whole-heartedly recommend the 94th!

Unique place, very friendly, convenient to the Japanese Garden, where we had our ceremony. Only downfall was using two small rooms was a bit awkward at times. Overall, very happy!!

Great Atmosphere

The reception was lovely. There were two points that the restaurant should work on. There are some gaps in their clear tarp coverage in the winter in case it rains. Two small parts of it was not secure so, it let cold air in, making the Bunker room colder than it should have been. Also, one of the gaps was on the roof, so if you stood in a certain place, you could feel sprinkles of rain coming in. Yes, it was raining. It took us 4 tríes of asking for the gap that could be reached to be fixed by an employee. He was very nice and helpful though and got the job done. The other is their sound system. They have one portable speaker and if you rent both rooms, the room that the speaker is in gets blown away in an attempt for the other room to hear it. They need to install some sort of permanent sound system that can be used for either both rooms together or both rooms separately. The food was excellent. The service of both the salad and the meal was excellent. The service for toasting was excellent. Their service was very good. Just the cold factor in winter and the sound system need improvement. You will hear an occasional plane come in or out of the airport but, if you are aeronautics fans like we are, it just adds to the ambiance. The assistance in planning and logistics was very helpful. We had the wedding Jan. 5. My daughter loves Christmas. They left all the lights, garland, decorations and trees up past the normal time for us so, we had to provide almost no decor. Just centerpieces for the tables. It was lovely. Overall, we were very pleased.

It's a mixed review. The venue itself is gorgeous. It's so pretty and has so many features that you do not need a lot of decorations. It has a vintage charm. The food is amazing. Everyone said it was the best wedding food they have ever had. The venue staff, bar tenders, waiters, event coordinators and everyone is amazing. Everyone went out of their way to create a wonderful day. My only complaint is the lack of responsiveness between the coordinator. Once my event deposit was paid for it was like pulling teeth to get someone to return an email or phone call. It took DAYS and I mean DAYS to get an email reply. 3-4 days would go by and I would email a follow up and wait another couple days with still no reply. I then had to call in to get a reply. Some times my emails went completely unanswered. As a bride or anyone planning a large event you expect your emails and phone calls to be answered in a timely manner. You expect promises to be kept and time deadlines to be met. You expect a computer savy professional that answers emails and phone calls. This is the only complaint I have with this place. It was frustrating to deal with and as a Bride you don't want extra stress especially from your venue ignoring you. Although the person was very nice - it still lacked professionalism. In spite of that the venue, food and staff outweighed all of that. It was a gorgeous event and a wonderful day.
