Julie is amazing. I'm actually writing this review before I see all the wedding pictures because I know I will be that happy with them. She is someone you will be comfortable with immediately and will become a trusted adviser and friend by the wedding day. Her pictures are beautiful. She shot our engagement pictures and they are lovely. You really get what you pay for with Julie: top-notch service and high quality photography. Tara her assistant is lovely as well.

Julie Laws did both my engagement and wedding photography in historic Yorktown. The photos came out elegant and absolutely breathtaking. She has a keen knack for catching great locations and sunlight, as well as being able to capture very special moments (for example, she caught a stunning close-up photo of my husband holding me during our dance). Julie is also very flexible. We had no trouble whatsoever of booking any of our photos for when we wanted and where. Not only is she great at what she does and a true professional, but she's a sweet person and great to work with. I'd recommend her to anyone!

My wedding was captured wonderfully! Julie could not have been more "on top" of the day! She arrived early and stayed a bit late, just so she could shoot an important part of the reception. I got my proofs and CDs very quickly. Even while living all the way across the country, Julie worked with me patiently to construct our wedding album, just the way we wanted it. It took about 15 back and forth edits to get it just right and she took my annoying pickyness in stride!
My parents were so pleased with her work that my Mom hired her to shoot some other portriats after the wedding!

Julie Laws was very fun to have around- she made us at ease and she got some beautiful photos. She has a somewhat journalistic style- we didn't do many posed pictures, except a few of the bridal party and families. In general, I thought the quality of the work was quite good, but I was disappointed by the album, which was just a store-bought photo album with two plastic slots per page into which she put all the black and white photos, while she gave us the rest in a box. All were 4 x 6 prints, and I don't think she developed them herself. On the other hand, she was much cheaper than the competition, and we were able to immediately buy a cd of all the images, with no waiting period, giving us the chance to print our favorites right away. Julie has recently taken on a partner, and changed the wedding packages. I believe her prices have gone up considerably, but they've also added high-quality custom albums. So, while I would have said before that she was a good budget option, if you're willing to do without the frills of custom albums and would rather just get your prints, I think her new prices probably put her in competition with some more accomplished photographers, although she also seems to have stepped up her game as far as the albums, etc. I would recommend taking a look at the galleries on her website and looking into using her if they're your style, but you should compare her new prices to some of the competition.
