What primary photographic style do you identify with?
Photojournalism, Portraiture
Do you have liability insurance?
Yes
Do you have experience shooting in various lighting situations?
Bring it on! Different lighting conditions are what wedding photography is all about. There are many challenges that occur throughout the day, but our experience with candle-light ceremonies, overcast rainy days, and full strong sun will ensure that you get photos you'll enjoy.
Is your media preference film or digital?
While we currently shoot 100% digital, we do still maintain our medium format and 35mm film cameras.
How many photographers do you work with?
Paul will always be the core member on the team photographing your day and he will be with you for 9 hours. Cyndy is normally the second photographer, handling 5 hours of photography. In the event of bigger weddings, we may bring along one or two of our assistants to cover additional areas.
Do you guarantee your presence at the actual event?
Yes, the company is named Paul Meyer Photography for a reason. You get the owner. In Paul's 20 years of photography and Cyndy's 5 years of photographing weddings, they have never missed an event.
Do you sometimes book yourself for more than one event in a day? Weekend?
On those rare weekends when we have the opportunity to book two weddings, we will only do so if the weddings occur on different days, such as a Friday-Saturday. We will never book three weddings in the same weekend. Our workflow is such that we are still able to provide the same high level of quality to both weddings.
Our contract states that Paul is with you for 9 hours on your wedding day. There isn't any opportunity to do a second wedding on the same day. Not that we want to! We commit fully to the couple of the day.
Do you have a replacement photographer in case you become unavailable on the day of the event?
Should Paul become unavailable for the day, Cyndy is fully ready to step in and be the lead photographer for the event. On the day of the wedding, both Paul & Cyndy drive separate vehicles to ensure that traffic problems or accidents will not stop your wedding photography. Both carry a full line of equipment, including two sets of backup equipment and lighting (and backup lighting!).
We have also trained our associate photographers so that they can easily step in to replace Cyndy in case of an emergency. Either way, we offer a 100% money back guarantee if you are not happy with your photography.
What kind of equipment do you typically bring with you on the day-of?
Paul and Cyndy both individually carry a full set of camera equipment and a full set of backup equipment. They both have a lighting setup and a backup lighting setup, including extra batteries, flash bulbs, memory cards, tripods, light reflectors, and meters.
While driving to the events, each takes a separate vehicle with their own gear to ensure that photo equipment is ready and available for use during any part of the day.
Do you bring back-up equipment to the event in case of malfunction?
Absolutely. Currently we have 8 digital camera bodies (not including our film cameras), a myriad of lenses, multiple flashes, and tons of batteries to run them all. In the rare case of a malfunction, there is plenty of equipment to back things up.
Do you charge hourly or full day?
We charge a flat rate for 9 hours of coverage by Paul and 5 hours of coverage by Cyndy.
Are you available to shoot extra hours? If yes, how much do you charge for extra hours?
Overtime hours are available at a rate of $150/hour.
What is your policy on taking breaks? If you require a meal break, do you require that the client provide your meal?
We do sit down during dinner time at the reception. Plus it's not very flattering to photograph the happy couple or guests while they are eating.
Do you charge for travel?
It depends. Within the Pittsburgh area there is no charge for travel. Outside of the area, such as New York, Hilton Head, etc., we do require an additional fee for out of town weddings. If you are unsure, please contact us for more information.
How soon after the event are the proofs ready for viewing?
Our goal is to have the proofs online in a secure, password protected gallery no more than 2 weeks from your event. Once you choose your 300 proofs, the final touch ups and proof album delivery is done in less than a month.
In what format are the initial proofs offered?
The first round of 900+ photos are presented in an online gallery available only with a password. We assign a unique password to the gallery to ensure the bride and groom are the first to see their wedding day pictures.
After that, the couple chooses their top 300 photos and they are developed and assembled into a proof album. The photos are 4x6 images with no "proof" or other text on them, so the couple could literally frame them for gifts if they choose to do so.
How long can the client keep the proofs?
The proofs are theirs to keep forever.
Do you retain the copyright for the photos?
While we retain ownership of the photos as their creators, we do have a copyright release available where the couple can legally make unlimited prints from the high resolution files. The digital files are sized to 8x12 at 320dpi and can easily go from wallet-sized to a 12x18 enlargement with little or no loss of quality. Anything larger than a 12x18, we suggest that the couple allow us to manufacture the portrait through our pro processing lab to ensure the print quality.
Do you reserve the right to publish the photos?
Yes, we use real couples in our advertising and print/album competitions. We feel it's the best way to attract future clients by providing photos with real couples in real situations, rather than hiring models and setting up the perfect set and lighting.
However, as a professional courtesy, our couples are notified when we submit photos for publishing consideration. Our couples love the way they look and are happy to see themselves in print.
Do you provide the digital files and/or negatives (or copies of the negatives) to the client?
When the copyright release is purchased, we provide full 8x12 images at 320dpi. This dpi is the highest that consumer labs will handle at the time.
Additionally, the couple gets three copies of the digital files: 2 storage DVD sets and 1 storage CD set.
Will images be available for viewing online?
Yes. The couple's gallery is uploaded within 2 weeks of their wedding date for the couple to review first. The gallery is password protected to ensure that only the couple and the couple's family & friends are able to access the images.
What kind of albums do you offer?
The wedding album industry is changing so quickly with new products and formats that we've dedicated a separate company and website to cover this area. White Ribbon Design is the sister company to Paul Meyer Photography and run by Cyndy Meyer.
For the latest in albums, please visit White Ribbon Design at www.BeautifulAlbums.com for more information.
When will the client get the final album?
Since the customer is fully involved with the album process, it really depends on the effort and dedication of the bride and groom.
