About
Somewhere, a long time ago, there was a girl just like you. Standing in front of a mirror, adjusting her paper crown, and preening the frills on her dress, she gazed into the reflection of what she might, someday, become. The princess. The maiden. The bride. These moments prepare you in little ways for the excitement of capturing your true Loves glance. Is it hard to imagine, at the same time, another little girl somewhere, adjusting her plastic lens, straightening the dress on her teddy, and gracing a “Cheese!” through a toothy grin? She was also destined to capture the eye of what would someday become her greatest Love. I get jealous sometimes when couples have asked Melissa how long shes known she wanted to do photography. She'd say, “Since I was 4,” Because it's true- Melissa was born with this innate ability to capture each moment saturated with true emotion. That is a rare achievement. There are droves of people who can take pictures, your grandmother can now snap digital photographs, but it takes more than a couple of AA batteries to take you back to the day you've always dreamed of. I've watched Melissa spend hours pouring over each piece from first glance to last dance. Shes not some pandering drive-thru photographer. I laugh because she's truly found a magnificent obsession. I'm grateful to share my life and work with someone who can draw out so much from the little moments. It is so much more rewarding for me, that even as our couples join together, we can give back to them the reflection of their real love, perfectly preserved to live on. In and through the art of Romantic Photography.

Working with Melissa and Sean at Munelit Photographic was so easy. As a Wedding Planner you really deal with all types of personalities and some are not that great. Melissa and Sean were so professional and courteous to me and the staff on the yacht. They made the Bride and Groom truly feel like they were rock stars. Melissa and Sean were amazing to work with and the picutres were absolutly breathtaking. I highly recommend them for any Wedding.

Frequently Asked Questions for Photography
Do you offer special techniques such as hand-coloring or toning?
We will provide you with a CD of your images to view that will be presented in several tones. However if you find that you would like a particular photo presented differently we can edit as you request. We store all original color files so that we can later convert them to black and white, sepia, montages or splash of color images. If you see something you like, please let us know! We're always looking for new ways to better provide our couples with the best and newest in wedding photography.

Do you have experience shooting in various lighting situations?
We have shot in an array of lighting situations- outdoor sunny and overcast, indoor bright, studio and soft light with candles.

Is your media preference film or digital?
Munelit Photographic chooses to use only professional Nikon SLR digital cameras. We shoot in a digital format for multiple reasons: stability of continuity of your day, editing capabilities, reduced liability of lost footage, and the ability to capture more images at a lower cost to our clients.

How many photographers do you work with?
Munelit Photographic is husband and wife team, Sean and Melissa Mune. Sean cultivated his interest for photography early on in his relationship with Melissa by working as her assistant at several weddings first and always taking pictures of their friends and family for fun. Melissa grew up around weddings because her parents were florists who encouraged her to tap into her creativity. After high school she attended college to pursue her photographic career, continuing to shoot weddings for friends and classmates. Together, Sean and Melissa approach weddings as artistic photojournalists, capturing the events as they unfold. We do have 2 associate photographers we utilize for other endeavors, that are available should one of us become too ill or injured to shoot ourselves. Thankfully, though, that's never happened.

Do you guarantee your presence at the actual event?
Though we have several assistants we take with us for some weddings, for large weddings or in case one of us is becomes ill, we shoot every wedding together unless you ask for only one of us. For this reason we only book one event per day.

Do you sometimes book yourself for more than one event in a day? Weekend?
We never double book wedding dates, we believe each wedding requires our full attention. We book a maximum of two weddings a weekend, one Saturday and one Sunday.

What kind of equipment do you typically bring with you on the day-of?
We each carry Digital Nikon SLRs with an assortment of lenses, including fisheye, telephoto and the standard 55- 80 mm, flashes and can bring a mobile studio. We will be offering a Foto Booth for receptions in 2009!

Do you bring back-up equipment to the event in case of malfunction?
We each carry an additional camera in case of equipment failure.

Do you charge hourly or full day?
We have two sets of coverage- limited (6 hours) and full (12 hours)- for your wedding day. We can also tailor packages to your needs and budget that will include specific amounts of time- such as three hours- for $150.00 an hour.

Are you available to shoot extra hours? If yes, how much do you charge for extra hours?
We will always be available to extend our coverage, however the charge for this will be billed at $150 per hour and is due before delivery of your proofs and gallery.

What is your policy on taking breaks? If you require a meal break, do you require that the client provide your meal?
For a longer day we require a meal break and a bathroom break or two. We can schedule these so that there is always one of us still shooting and the other taking the break.

Do you charge for travel?
We believe all of our packages are priced right to include some travel. We are located in Buffalo, NY and work all across the U.S.- Boston, Niagara Falls, Philadelphia, Baltimore, New York City, and that's just the NorthEast region! We travel at no extra charge for up to 200 roundtrip miles per event. Working with you, the client, we'll work together to stay within your budget if you're having an event outside of range. We love to travel, and we love weddings!

How soon after the event are the proofs ready for viewing?
Munelit Photographic will provide you with an online gallery and proofs of all your photos to view within 1- 2 weeks along with an order form.

In what format are the initial proofs offered?
You will receive an email with a link to your event proofs at Pictage.com and your keepsake proof album within 2- 3 weeks.

How long can the client keep the proofs?
Your proofs are presented in a keepsake proof book and are just that- your's to keep!

Do you retain the copyright for the photos?
We retain all rights to images taken during services. You will receive a letter for you to take to the printers stating that you do have right to make prints of your own though!

Do you reserve the right to publish the photos?
Images may be posted on business or creative related websites or may be seen by future clients.

Do you provide the digital files and/or negatives (or copies of the negatives) to the client?
Every couple may receive a high-resolution, un-watermarked CD of their wedding photographs with a letter stating you have the rights to edit and print your images as you desire. Additionally, your wedding day will be a lasting memory for us as well. We save all events in a fireproof safe for future need.

Will images be available for viewing online?
Friends and family can view your wedding images at your personal gallery at Pictge.com as soon as we email you the link.

What kind of albums do you offer?
Munelit Photographic chooses to work with several album companies to accommodate each couple. Our favorites are Graphi, Willowbook, and TAP albums. Together we will work in understanding which album best matches your ideas and budget.

When will the client get the final album?
After selecting your prints and purchases we will provide you with your completed boxed order within 3-6 weeks. If there are items that require additional time you will be notified at the time your order is placed. Some of our albums, like Graphi in Italy, take a bit longer.

Tips and Advice
Your Engagement Session 1. On the day we meet for your engagement session (we call it the e-sesh) the biggest thing to remember is to make sure you have plenty of time. We understand you have a lot going on in your life, and there never seems to be enough time. Don’t we know it! The biggest reason to make sure you schedule time with us for the e-sesh is we spend 2-3 hours on the typical session now. We like to spend this time to get to know one another- some of our best friends are past clients! We’ll talk and teach you a little about posing, encourage you to interact naturally together and get you and your partner comfortable in front of our cameras (grooms especially!). After the session we’ll probably conclude with coffee or dinner, maybe even drinks if you prefer. We can talk about the wedding planning, our favorite vendors, albums, or just anything going on in your life. Then you can expect an email from us about your pictures being ready in your online gallery within a week! 2. Clothing is important. Unless we have a theme- like a favorite sports team- we try to stay away from logos. They can be distracting and clash with the images. We don’t want anything taken away from you! Neutrals are always a safe bet, but if you are feeling daring solid bright colors can look great! Dress for the location. If we’re going to the park than neutrals, blacks and whites are a great choice. Jeans and a nice shirt are perfect! If we’re going to shoot around a hip, downtown district dress for it like it’s a hot date! To still look sharp, but casual, guys look best in a button down shirt and nice jeans with a nice pair of shoes. Girls, I know some of us will wear our heels no matter what, so just make sure you’re comfortable. Check for runs in your stockings or tights if you wear them, and lotion any dry skin. And always dress weather appropriate- it’s no fun if you get sick. Just remember whatever you wear, we want you to look like you- don’t feel like you have to go out and buy an expensive new outfit you’ll never wear for another occasion. You can still look great in jeans and your favorite concert tees. Let us know if you’d like to see some samples from past clients- we’re always happy to share! 3. Makeup. Some of us like it, some of us don’t. We always recommend at least foundation so your skin looks flawless. My personal favorite is Elizabeth Arden’s Mousse Foundation. It’s light and blends really well. Bring a powder compact or oil absorbing sheets. The oil absorbing sheets are great! My favorite brand is Clean and Clear, and the best part is these are something even the guys will use. We usually try to keep a pack in our camera bags, but it’s good to have some of your own in case we run out and it’s a hot day or you naturally have the skin of a teenager (which is a great thing!). Bring Chapstick! Who doesn’t want soft, kissable lips? I think of Chapstick as really cheap, temporary Botox for the lips. Finally, don’t overdo it! Make up can be so much fun, but again, we want you to look the way you normally do. If you normally wear it, go for it! If not, stick to the tips above and you’ll still look like a natural knockout. Before the Wedding Day! 1. Must-have shots. We have a list and it probably looks very similar to any bridal magazine’s or website’s list. As one bride told us “We’re paying you to know this, why do I need a list?” The truth is, you don’t. We will ask you for a list of VIPs- these people are immediate family, your best friends, special extended or surrogate family. A lot of people may say it’s passé for photographers to do table shots, but we still do. We know everyone you invited to your wedding was invited because they’re important to you and your families. We also try to shoot as many couples and families at each table as possible because it may have been a while since they last had a professional photograph taken. Of course, we’ll also be snapping lots of fun candids, but we want you to know we’re covering all the people who want a picture taken. All this isn’t to say we don’t want your suggestions, we just want you to be assured. If there are pictures you would like recreated from your mom’s wedding or tear sheets from magazines and websites please let us know! We’re constantly looking for ways to up our ante and wow you, so if there’s a picture you’ve seen that you want, we’ll do our best to recreate it. We regularly get emails about pictures a bride has seen online and wants us to do and we keep these shots on our computers with their client folder. 2. Scheduling you Make Up and Hair. We’ve heard all too often about brides who ran late because of hair and makeup taking longer than expected. One of our own brides was 5 hours late because her MUA didn’t show up on time and it set back her hair and nails appointments hours! Her ceremony was scheduled for noon and began at 5. When I’ve done makeup for the bridal party and bride I’ve always asked for 2 hours. It takes me about 15 minutes for the bridal party and 25 minutes for brides even after doing makeup professionally for 5 years. Also, if the hair stylist will be joining you in the bridal suite to each girl’s hair ready, it’s a good idea to hire 2 or 3. It’s all too easy to lose track of time when you’re relaxing in your own space, instead of a salon when there are people waiting for appointments. Always book an hour earlier than you think is necessary so if it goes longer on the day of you won’t feel stressed or hurried. Any extra time can be used for pictures with your girlfriends and family! 3. Think about having a getting ready dress code for your bridal party! For prettier getting ready photos consider getting your bridal party something cute to wear. 4. When shopping for your wedding dress undergarments remember how the dress fits. If your dress is low cut in the back it’s important to remember that a typical strapless bra just won’t work. Many bridal salons sell undergarments and though they often charge a bit more than lingerie shops, it’s still a good idea to try them on to know what looks and fits best with your dress. Having to stop and adjust your unders between pictures, dances and greeting guests is no fun! Also remember that if any part of your dress is sheer to pick up complimenting undergarments. A purple bra will scream beneath an organza back! 5. Create a wedding day itinerary. This helps us to run through your pictures smoothly and efficiently and let’s your bridal party and family know when and where they need to be ready for portraits. We take about 15 minutes for the bridal party shots, another 15 for family and 10 minutes for each location for bride and groom shots. Supplying the itinerary to them (and us!) sets your expectations and gets you to the party as quickly as possible! 6. Designate a go-to person for us. This person helps to round up bridal party and family who are missing in action when it’s time for portraits. Let us know who this person is ahead of time so we can introduce ourselves! 7. Find out what your officiant’s rules on photography are. Some don’t allow flash, some don’t care and other’s don’t allow photography at all! While we’re masters of persuasion with tough vendors some just don’t budge and knowing the limitations in advance helps us set up a day-of game plan with you. The Big Day! 1. Don’t get drunk before the portraits! We all like to have fun, but it makes such a big difference in everyone’s appearance for your final product. This will help everything run more smoothly and help avoid time delays. Rowdy groups tend to take a little longer to shoot and, again, we want to get you to your party quickly. Also, costs for editing out red eyes and skin can really add up! 2. Wear the dress, don’t let the dress wear you! You are going to look spectacular, no matter what you wear. We’ve had brides wear simple and elegant dresses and brides with 12 foot long trains. Whatever you wear, make sure it’s comfortable and enjoy looking like the complete Rock Star you are! 3. Limos and Drivers. Make sure they are told the correct time to pick you up, not once the ceremony is over but at the time we expect to be done with photography. (This also helps them save money and keep from a limo driver leaving.) 4. Kiss a LOOONG time! This is the shot everyone at the ceremony will jump up to take and of course we want one too! 5. Don't forget to have fun! There's no need to worry about looking pretty. When you feel beautiful, you'll look beautiful, so just relax, enjoy yourself, and soak up every moment of this most special day. After Your Wedding 1. We will email you as soon as your images are ready, generally within 7 days. Use our Pictage how-to sheet to use your gallery and share your images with everyone. 2. Share your reaction with us! We’re members of Wedding Wire and your review there and the survey we send everyone is a big help in us improving our services.
