About

Mookie Productions LLC is an incorporated, fully insured production company established in Los Angeles, CA in 2006.  It was founded by Jordan Teller, at the time a student at The George Washington University, and has since moved most of its operations to Washington, DC.  Currently, we edit promotional videos, film and edit live events, as well as put together video montages.  We also offer live DJ services, complete with a full light setup.  Operating under the name DJoT, Jordan performs at clubs around DC along with private events.  Jordan is also the official DJ/Music Coordinator of the Washington Nationals, and can be heard at all Nationals home games.  Thanks for visiting, and congratulations on your upcoming wedding!

Frequently Asked Questions for DJ
Describe your DJ style:
My DJ style ranges from club (top 40 mostly) to house (techno) all the way to the music eras of the 50s, 60s, 70s, and 80s. Sometimes I may even throw in a little 90s. You name it, I'll do it. Well, musically at least.

What is your usual attire?
I generally dress very casually for club events, but can go all the way up to black tie depending on the nature of your event.

If you do not have one of the songs pre-requested by the client, do you require that they provide it?
I will acquire any song I don't have that is specifically requested before hand. If the couple would like to provide CDs of songs they would like to hear, that would work as well.

How many other DJs do you work with?
Just me.

What is the minimum amount of time you will DJ for?
No minimum.

Is the client able to meet the DJ before booking?
Absolutely.

Do you specialize in any ethnic or international events?
Not specifically, but I have DJed an Indian wedding before. Also, I am Jewish, so I have been to so many Bar and Bat Mitzvahs as well as Jewish weddings that I don't even want to count. L'Chaim!

Do you bring your own equipment?
I do.

What (if any) special equipment, such as disco balls or lighting, is offered with your service?
I can provide a lighting set up with 3 Chauvet lights, all music controlled, as well as a fog machine.

How much time do you usually need to set up? Do you require that the site or client provide a table for you to set up on?
If no lights, an hour. With lights, an hour and a half or so. I do require that the venue be available for a minimum of an hour prior to the start of the event. I can bring my own tables/stands, but if a table is available, I will gladly use it.

Do you have any extra space requirements?
If I am bringing lights, a little extra space will be needed. If not, then a standard DJ set up area will suffice (your venue will know how to measure it out).

Do you usually emcee the event or talk between songs?
I am more than happy to. I am a radio broadcaster for GW basketball, so I am comfortable doing anything emcee wise that you want.

What is your policy on taking breaks? If you require a meal break, do you require that the client provide your meal?
I don't require it, but I won't complain if it happens.

Will you arrange for recorded music to play during your breaks?
Definitely.

What is your backup plan in case you become unavailable on the day of the event?
In the extremely unlikely event this happens, I will not leave you without a DJ. I have several friends here at GW who are in the business as well who are just as qualified and who I trust completely.

What is your overtime rate?
Variable, but it will not be more than $150 an hour. Usually around $100. If the party goes over under 30 minutes, no overtime will be charged. After that, overtime will be prorated after the first hour.

Do you charge for travel expenses? If yes, how much do you charge?
No, travel is included in the fee.

Additional Questions and Answers
Q - Are you inexperienced or not as professional as a full-time, slightly older DJ might be? A - Less experienced? Possibly. Not as professional? I am just as professional as any DJ you will find. I am completely insured and incorporated, and have worked several major events as well as many more intimate private functions. I have been working with sound equipment and music all my life, and am very enthusiastic about what I do. I am more than happy to meet with you beforehand (as it says above) to ensure your confidence, as well as provide references if requested.
