The best tip that I can give when choosing a photographer is to make sure you pick someone that you know you will get along with.  If you dont like your photographers personality you wont be able to enjoy getting your photos taken and it will effect the outcome of your photos.  You should be able to laugh and joke and have a good time with your photographer.
