Describe your DJ style:
Being a Wedding DJ is about filling the role the Bride & Groom ask you to fill. My "style" is YOUR style!
How many other DJs do you work with?
I am fortunate to be part of a very large community of DJ's who help each other out, however I am a full time professional. When you book me you are hiring me.
Do you have replacement DJs in case you become unavailable on the wedding day?
ABSOLUTELY...though in 15 years I have never once had to call on someone to take my place.
Do you specialize in any ethnic and/or international events?
It has been my pleasure to perform for close to 1,000 different brides and grooms and I've played it all. Want Banghra music, got it. Salsa or Merengue, got it! How about traditional Greek, Polish, Czechoslovakian, Russian, Portugeuse, got it, got it, got it, got it, got it! Hey you can't work this long in this industry without being flexible and open to learning about the customs and cultures of your clientele!
Is the bride able to meet the DJ before booking?
Yes.
If you do not have one of the songs pre-requested by the couple, do you require that they provide it?
No and no DJ should! Your mechanic doesn't ask you to bring in the tools to fix your car! I invest heavily in my music collection. If you make a request for music that I don't already own, I purchase that music at no additional cost to you. This is how a DJ builds his collection. Anyone who wants you to provide your own music should be considered questionable.
What is your usual attire?
Again it depends on the Bride & Groom. I have done medieval renaissance weddings in full Elizabethan dress. I have performed at beach side weddings in clam diggers and Hawaiian shirts that matched the evenings theme. I own several tuxedos all with their own custom elements. It's about what YOU want!
Do you bring your own equipment?
Yes.
What (if any) special equipment, such as disco balls or lighting, is offered with your service?
I offer dance floor lighting.
What is your minimum amount of time you will DJ for?
The minimum time is only dictated by the start time of the event.
Do you usually emcee the reception and/or talk between songs?
Yes. I am a trained and experienced emcee but I don't talk unless there is something to say.
Do you take any breaks?
No.
Will you arrange for recorded music to play during your breaks?
N/A
Do you require a meal break? If yes, do you require that the wedding party provide your meal?
Provided the event is no longer than 6 hours I do not require a meal. In fact I prefer not to eat while I am working.
How much time do you usually need to set up? Do you require that the site and/or couple provide a table for you to setup on?
I require at least 1 hour (this is usually sufficient for catering halls, hotels, standard event locations) and depending upon the location and requested service as many as 3 hours to properly prepare for a reception.
Do you have any extra space requirements?
No.
What is your overtime rate?
$200 per hour when purchased on the night of the event.
Do you charge for travel expenses? If yes, how much do you charge?
There are additional charges for excessive travel. Anything east of Massachusetts, west of Ohio and south of Virginia. (Note: I do not provide service to Canada at the present time due to recent changes in the Canadian work visa requirements)
