Frequently Asked Questions for Photography
Do you offer special techniques such as hand-coloring or toning?
I love the mix of black and white and color right now. Sometimes you can change the feel of a shot by adding a special effect. Look at the shot of the guys walking in my gallery. by taking away the color and bumping up the exposure changed the mood of this shot.
Do you have experience shooting in various lighting situations?
I have shot in most all conditions. I have a light kit but would rather shoot in natural light. Overcast is great for peoples faces. I have shot in the Sun, Clouds, Snow, & rain. I have even shot during a tornado....
Is your media preference film or digital?
I was the last hold out among my photographer friends to go digital. I loved film and I knew just how it would come out. The switch to digital has been amazing at times and a challenge at times. The instant gratification of seeing that I nailed the shot is great and the control after the shoot is the best.
How many photographers do you work with?
It is just me. I am the owner and the photographer so I handle each customer personally.
Do you guarantee your presence at the actual event?
Yes, when you book Hot Shots you get Me.
Do you sometimes book yourself for more than one event in a day? Weekend?
I never book more then one Wedding a day. You dream of your wedding since you were little. You plan it for a year or more. You live it for a day. How can I come in and get all the love and emotion in a few hours.
Do you have a replacement photographer in case you become unavailable on the day of the event?
I have never missed a wedding but I have a net work of other photographers I trust and have a smiler style as I do to call on in case of an emergency.
What kind of equipment do you typically bring with you on the day-of?
I use Nikon cameras. I bring 3 cameras, and selections of lens's, lighting equipment, special filters, lot of small stuff to name. I try to keep some special items on me. Double sided body tape, straight pins, safety pins, lint roller, shout wipes. You just never know when a bridal party is going to need something.
Do you bring back-up equipment to the event in case of malfunction?
Yes
Do you charge hourly or full day?
My packages are for the entire day and all inclusive.
Are you available to shoot extra hours? If yes, how much do you charge for extra hours?
No need to charge overtime.
What is your policy on taking breaks? If you require a meal break, do you require that the client provide your meal?
There will be glimpses of time to get a "break" so to speak. During the message portion of a service I can pause to just relax and think about the next formality coming up. During the meal is a time I can have a bit of talk with the others at the table all while keeping an eye on the couple.
Do you charge for travel?
If the wedding / reception is located more then 35 min's away there maybe a travel charge. If the location is more then 1 hr away I may ask for accommodations. If the location is out of the state travel will be negotiated.
How soon after the event are the proofs ready for viewing?
Proofs will be posted to the online viewer 4 to 6 weeks after the wedding and the books will fallow just after that. If your wedding falls around the Christmas / new Years holidays then there maybe a longer delay.
In what format are the initial proofs offered?
Website and also as a finished 4x6 print in an album.
How long can the client keep the proofs?
