About

AVAILABLE FOR TRAVEL WORLDWIDE.

I have been Professionally shooting weddings for the last 18 years.

I have created a style that mixes candid, photojournalistic, & traditional wedding photography. I enjoy creating something a bit different and fun.
After being in this business for this long I have seen a lot of great ideas. I enjoy being able to help my couples to come up with ideas that make thier day something unique and special.

The day of the wedding I will help to make sure that things fall in to place and the fine details are not forgotten.
So relax and lets create photos that show the real you.

I only book one wedding a day. I feel that only shooting for a few hours to capture what has been a life time dream is impossable. Spending the day with a couple and the family and friends gives me an insight in to people and thier connection.

We have worked with Maelene for several years now. We love it when one of our couple's tell us that they have chosen her to be their photographer. We know our day will run smoothly. She has a great creative eye and is very helpful during the day even with the little details.
A pleasure to work with. Great interaction with the clients.

Frequently Asked Questions
How do you identify your primary photographic style?
I have a mix of photo journalistic, traditional, and candid style. I love fun exciting poses. I try to capture everything in a variety of ways so that you have endless choices to please all of your family and friends. I want you to say after your wedding that I captured stuff you didn't even see.
Please describe any special techniques you offer:
I love the mix of black and white and color right now. Sometimes you can change the feel of a shot by adding a special effect. Look at the shot of the guys walking in my gallery. by taking away the color and bumping up the exposure changed the mood of this shot.
Which lighting situations do you have experience with?
I have shot in most all conditions. I have a light kit but would rather shoot in natural light. Overcast is great for peoples faces. I have shot in the Sun, Clouds, Snow, & rain. I have even shot during a tornado....
Do you have a media preference?
I was the last hold out among my photographer friends to go digital. I loved film and I knew just how it would come out. The switch to digital has been amazing at times and a challenge at times. The instant gratification of seeing that I nailed the shot is great and the control after the shoot is the best.
How many photographers do you work with?
It is just me. I am the owner and the photographer so I handle each customer personally.
Do you guarantee your presence at the actual event?
Yes, when you book Hot Shots you get Me.
Do you sometimes book yourself for more than one wedding in a day?
I never book more then one Wedding a day. You dream of your wedding since you were little. You plan it for a year or more. You live it for a day. How can I come in and get all the love and emotion in a few hours.
Do you have a replacement photographer in case you become unavailable on the wedding day?
I have never missed a wedding but I have a net work of other photographers I trust and have a smiler style as I do to call on in case of an emergency.
What kind of equipment do you typically bring with you on the day-of?
I use Nikon cameras. I bring 3 cameras, and selections of lens's, lighting equipment, special filters, lot of small stuff to name. I try to keep some special items on me. Double sided body tape, straight pins, safety pins, lint roller, shout wipes. You just never know when a bridal party is going to need something.
Do you bring back-up equipment to the event in case of malfunction?
Yes
Do you charge hourly or full day?
My packages are for the entire day and all inclusive.
If hourly, are you available for shooting overtime? If so, how much do you charge for overtime?
No need to charge overtime.
Do you require a meal break? If yes, do you require that the wedding party provide your meal?
Yes I am with you the entire day and I would not be able to just leave for the burger drive through. :) including me in the reception meal is the best for both of us. That way I am always near by to grab the shot when needed.
How many breaks do you usually take throughout the day?
There will be glimpses of time to get a "break" so to speak. During the message portion of a service I can pause to just relax and think about the next formality coming up. During the meal is a time I can have a bit of talk with the others at the table all while keeping an eye on the couple.
Do you charge for travel?
If the wedding / reception is located more then 35 min's away there maybe a travel charge. If the location is more then 1 hr away I may ask for accommodations. If the location is out of the state travel will be negotiated.
How soon after the event are the proofs ready for viewing?
Proofs will be posted to the online viewer 4 to 6 weeks after the wedding and the books will fallow just after that. If your wedding falls around the Christmas / new Years holidays then there maybe a longer delay.
In what format are the initial proofs offered?
Website and also as a finished 4x6 print in an album.
How long can the couple keep the proofs?
Proofs are included in the package so they are your to keep.
Do you retain the copyright for the photos?
Yes
Do you reserve the right to publish the photos?
Yes
Do you provide the digital files and/or negatives (or copies of the negatives) to the couple?
For an additional fee.
Will images be available for viewing on an online gallery?
Yes
What kind of albums do you offer?
We have a verity of albums from traditional to the new sleek coffee table books.
When will I get the final book?
Albums come about 4 to 6 weeks after final approval of the layout.
