Summertime is finally here, which means it’s time to retire your winter coats and clothing for sundresses, rompers and anything else that shows a bit of skin. However, as much as you want to achieve that sun-kissed look for your wedding day, it’s important to protect your skin from the summer’s hot UV rays. With warmer weather you’ll want your bridal skin care routine to keep your skin feeling refreshed, (as well as protected!). That’s why we’ve decided to share with you the top summer wedding skin care tips that will keep you looking flawless for your big day!

Here are the four must-follow tips for your summer bridal skin care routine.

Up the SPF

This may be a no brainer, but sunscreen can be easily missed during your bridal skin care regime. You should ALWAYS apply some kind of SPF when you are spending your days outside. If you aren’t a fan of the standard suntan lotions, try using beauty products that already have SPF in the formula. Not only will this help keep your skin protected in the long run, but it’ll also help avoid any not so fun sunburns. Trust us, a sunburn stands out ten times more when you are wearing a white wedding gown.

Exfoliate

One of the easiest ways to maintain healthy looking skin in the summertime is to exfoliate. Your body sheds dead skin daily, which we know sounds gross—but it’s true! That’s why it is important to scrub away these “dead cells” in order to reveal a brighter complexion. This will also help you stay away from any clogged pores or unwanted blemishes on your big day, too.

Moisturize

You’ll definitely want your skin looking soft and glowing on your wedding day, which means using a hydrating lotion is a must. With hot UV rays and summer vacations to the beach or pool, your skin is bound to dry out if you don’t use some kind of moisturizer. In order to keep your skin from peeling or feeling dry, make sure to apply body lotion right after you shower. This can be either a lightweight lotion that smells sweet for summertime or a standard unscented product. Just make sure it soaks in before you apply anything else. Also, don't forget to moisturize your face with a moisturizer. You’ll want your face feeling effortless and smooth for your wedding portraits, as well!

Stay Hydrated

Drinking water is a great way to keep your body and skin feeling refreshed, especially during the summer. We suggest drinking at least eight glasses a day in order to get rid of any unwanted toxins and also prevent you from becoming dehydrated. One of the easiest ways to stay on top of your water intake game is by using a reusable water bottle that you can refill throughout the day.
