Zales

Melanie, on July 24, 2012 at 4:31 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 39

Has anyone else gotten a ring from zales? I'm getting so frustrated with them...They have lied to us about store policies and they are not sailing any type of warranty in my state, Washington. Then at the middle of June, I noticed a crack on the side of my ring. To get it fixed we had to buy a warranty from Alaska, which I was apprehensive of. I don't think a warranty should be needed when I've had the ring less than 6 weeks They promised my ring would be fixed by July 10th at the latest. But still no ring...I love my ring so much but this experience at zales has tainted the experience and mad me so upset. I almost want them to give us our money back. Has anyone had any problems there? If so, what did you end up doing? Or has anyone had any positive experiences at zales?.

I got my ring from Zales and no problem. But I have seen a lot I mean a lot of complaints on their Fb. I bought the warranty and if I was you I would get it too. The life time warranty is great.

I was going to purchase my wedding band from Zales b/c of the cost, but after reading the numerous complaints, I passed. SOrry for your bad experience. I hope eevrything will work out in the end. We are going to stay with Smyth or go with Jareds.

Funny you mention them, I just went through a whole lot of BS with them . Now I will say that we have 2 locations near us, one is great but of course its the one closer to me that gave us SUCH a hassle. My DH bought my e-ring from a location 45 min away from where we live now but since I do have the lifetime plan, I dropped it off to be checked and re dipped in the rhodium since its white gold. Got it back, but when I got home, I noticed that one of the tools that the jeweler used had put some pretty significant damage in the setting, not in a place I could have possibly done. (I dropped it off with no damage, I should get it back with no damage) But this is where it got really fun....It was sent out for repair. When I went in to pick it up, the repair was crap. I could still see where the damage was and the piss poor repair was not even smoothed out. I told the sales clerk I would not accept it like that because I did not damage it. She walked over to the jeweler who was (cont)

Doing nothing but chit chatting with the other clerk and asked him about the repair. This is where all 3 of them made a HUGE mistake in assuming I did not understand Spanish. Sales clerk #1 asked the jeweler about the poor repair and basically his answer was that was the best he could do to fix the damage I did. (I was getting VERY LIVID) He basically said I was crazy, he cant fix it, he wasn't, dealing with me and he was going home. Sales clerk #2 laughed and agreed that I was just being difficult because I "wanted a new ring". so after about 5 min of them joking around at my expense in Spanish, clerk #1 came back and said thats the best she can get it to be. I refused and told her that I dropped it off perfect, I expect that in return. She got all pissy and called the manager who told her to give me a new ring. #1 told me that the new one was exactly like my old one and she was sending it to get sized. She did not let me see the "new one" and I did not ask because she said it (cont)

Was the SAME EXACT ring. After she sent it out, I told her I would be calling her boss and corporate (I said it in Spanish and her look was priceless) All that week my DH called Zales daily to try and speak to the manager over the way we were treated but she was never there. This brings us to last sat. I went back AGAIN to pick up my new ring, and when #1 handed it to me, it looked NOTHING like my old one. I was pissed and demanded to see a manager. The manager came over, told her everything that happened and told her that the new ring looked nothing like mine and had I been told that, I would have refused it. So she got my old ring and made the on site jeweler stop try to fix it until I was happy. Meanwhile I told her everything the clerks and other jeweler said and how pissed I was. At that point there was no way they were going to make me happy so I took my old ring at brought it to the location I should have gone to in the first place...they fixed it as best as they could. The best part, when I went to go pick up my new ring, they had a freaking price tag on my old ring!!! They were going to F-ing sell it before the matter was even resolved! The manager had the nerve to ask me if I didn't like the new ring, why did I have them size it. I told her I was not given the opportunity to see the new one. When I got home, I looked online to see the description of the ring they tried to give me because there were trying to sell my old one at a different price. My current ring is a 1.5K 3 stone ring. the one they wanted to give me was only a 1k so I called to confront the manager and she told me "we were going to replace your ring based on the price paid originally". When I informed her tat doing that was an attempt to cheat me because he got it on sale her excuse, "oh well we have no way of knowing that". BS lady! The diamond size of mine is in your damn computer!! Told her Id rather drive 45 min out of my way to the other store. UGH!!!! I hate that location

I'm so sorry that has happened to you. I have purchased something from ZALES before, years ago, at that time they were not that bad. I believe they are getting the big head about themselves because all I hear is bad reviews now. Im with La-Kia D. I'll pass on them with our wedding bands.

@Mrs Clark aka Mrs Awesomepants, Im so sorry for your experience as well. You always wonder if sales people are talking about you like that in a different language, but if you dont know its just always a wonder. That was not only unprofessional and rude of them, how dare they not even take the time to want to reach out to the manager to get the matter resolved. What happened to great Customer Service. They have no idea stories like this put a bad taste in poeple's mouth about the comapny. I'm glad to know though its not all of the ZALES stores that are like that. I'm glad you got things resolved. I sure hope they did something about those Sales Associates treating you like that.

Yeah well, Helzberg is no better! The sales women are snooty a** bi**hes and they make you fell like lowerclass human beings for not wanting a ring that consumes two months of you FH's slaray. As a matter of fact, the women in our location are mortified if the emgagement ring is anything less than 3/4 karat center stone. Guess what? I didn't want that ring eventhough I could have had one. I wanted small and simple. When I had a diamond fall out, they said it was my fault as "You snagged it on a sweater or something" REALLY? my response was "Actually it was a towel because apparently, unlike you classy ladies, I wash my hands after using the restroom. Not to mention that I really don't give a sh*t waht I snagged it on, the diamond fell out and I have a lifetime warranty." her response.."If you had a real engagement ring with proper sized daimonds, this wouldn't happen" and in walks a girl with a 1 1/2 karat center stone that has fallen out. There is one older woman that (cont)

Is really sweet and she is the only one I will deal with. The manager refuses to believe that the women ever commented on the size of an engagement ring or any other crap they spew. They didn't "fix" my ring, they gave me a different one that was too big, then denied it was a different ring and said I must have lost weight...funny though, the wedding band purchased elsewhere still fit perfectly. They ssent it to be "sized" and I got it back..looked great until an hour after leaving the store when the EXACT same diamond fell out...took that one back and it was sent out to be "fixed"...when that one came back, it was MY ORIGINAL ring! Yep, I got my original ring back, and let's face it ladies, we know our rings...We did purchase the wedding bands elsewhere and love the employees and treatment we have received from them! They have an onsite jeweler and no attitudes regarding customer's choice in jewelry!

We purchased our bands elsewhere too, matter of fact from JCP. Chain store horror stories are just like all the mixed reviews we hear about Davids. Some are great, like mine was, and some are terrible. I'm just glad we have another location that will treat us right when I need my ring serviced in the future.

I got my ring from zales and we had absolutely no issue. They even sent it out to some place to get it laser sized in order to not compromise all the tiny diamonds on the band since i wear a size 3.5. I have the lifetime warranty also and its great.

Now, Gordons on the other hand was awful! I took my engagement ring to go look for a wedding band. they suggested a try a solitaire wrap since I wanted a band on each side. The woman shoved my ring into the wrap and got it stuck! it took 3 people and the jeweler from another store to try to get it out. Their method to get it out? Take plyers to my center stone and tug at it. I was livid! I took it straight to Zales after this to get it looked over. Never again will I let a jeweler touch my ring unless its to get it checked every 6 months.

i'm sorry to hear about y'alls troubles with various jewelers!

Mrs. Clark-I agree with the reviews. Some are good, some aren't.

My rings came from Helzberg, and I've had a good experience. Had something happen to my ring during the first werk of wearing it. I was soooooo mad. But, they fixed everything, and made me comfortable with them again. Of course I have the lifetime warranty though. The ladies have all been nice and helpful.

We bought our wedding bands from Zales. We had a great sales person that really took care of us. She gave us discounts, cleaned my engagement band, and recommended a different jeweler to get our engravings since he was cheaper.

Went to Kay, the only issue I had was that the ring I really wanted to get my fiance was enought to be a down payment on a house. But I knew that before going in and knew I could not afford it so I got a similar ring without any fancy names attached lol.

Both my engagement ring and wedding band are from Zales. We have only had one problem. A stone fell out of my ring and we were told that since the stock ring is a 7.5 and I am a 3.5, my FH should have custom ordered a ring to my size. Melting down the metal four whole sizes really weakens the quality. We plan to custom order a new one in the future. However, we have not had any other issues with them. My FH purchased the lifetime warranty and when the stone fell out of my ring they fixed it with no problem. While we wish that they told my FH about the custom ordering before he purchased my ring, we will most likely go back there for future purchases.

I got my e-ring from Zales, and my FH has picked out his Wedding Band there. We went to every jeweler in town and they were the only ones that respected our budget and what we were looking for.

The big "wedding ring" jeweler in town tried to pull a bait and switch on us. They showed us this beautiful vintage ring with a 1K diamond in it and told us the entire ring was $2500. It was too good to be true, but we had heard amazing things about what they can do... then the owner came out and goes "Oh no, the setting is 2500, the diamond is another 2500." Thing of it was I could care less about the size of the stone and said so. They started trying to sell us the diamond in a cheap solitare setting (I watched him pinch the ring and place the diamond in the center and try to tell us that that was worth 2500).

Looked at Helzburg - had a similar experience as Tiedaknot.

Went to Kay - the sales lady knew nothing. Literally kept looking at their add to show us rings... I can do that

We used Helzberg for my rings and Zales for FH and have had absolutely no problems with either one. I do truly believe it can be different from store to store depending on the employees.

We bought my ring at Zales and I had a stone fall out. It is under the 100 day return date since it was purchased May 30th. We called the 800 number since it was purchased online and the the woman told us to go the store to have it repaired/exchanged or refunded. They suggested the lifetime warranty.

When I got to the Zales nearest my home, the woman that waited on me was great and made a great suggestion as to how to get the ring repaired without it taking weeks. I am taking her suggestion if all goes well I will let you know. If not we will just ask for a refund and go elsewhere.
