Your wedding website...does anyone actually look at it?

Alycia, on July 10, 2019 at 7:38 PM Posted in Planning 0 18

I spent weeks building our site. It's awesome! I finally launched it on July 4, 2019, which is one year before our wedding date. I sent the link to everyone I'm inviting. Several people sent me positive reactions to the link, but only a couple of people actually clicked and visited the site. I'm wondering if it's worth the work. Should I bother to update it? Does anyone actually visit people's wedding websites?

I know a few of my friends mom's look at it. My mother in law does.
I think once you get closer to the date it'll be more looked at for information and what not

I felt mine was super important and spent months working on it, and still update it will travel info. But I only know of two people that have gone on it. Hopefully more will use it after our invites go out.

We're doing everything through our site so people have to look at it in order to know what's going on or to RSVP. I would just remind people about it and add your site web address to pre-wedding stationary.

I added the website to the RSVP and also texted it to everyone. I didn’t send RSVP envelopes so basically everyone had to look. On the details insert we put in our wedding cards I also put the wedding website.

I’ve never viewed anyone else’s wedding website, so I felt no reason to make one. It’s a know your crowd kind of thing though. If you have friends that are into that, go for it.

After invites go out people start looking at it a lot more
Save the dates are just being sent and only parents and parties have looked at it just to double check all my information but I know it'll pick up especially at RSVP time

I always look at the website, especially the "how we met" stories. I would say update when needed: registry info, accommodations, etc.

Honestly, I don't think anybody does. I sent the link with the save the dates. I know at least 2 of my friends looked at it, and maybe one of FH's. I don't know if anybody else checked it later on. And there is no way for me track who checks it or how may visited the site anyway. And I actually forgot to add it when I sent the invites. *facepalm*

Some people do. I think close family members who are internet savvy. Or close friends who appreciate that kind of thing. For example, my Godparents gifted us a gift certificate to the restaurant where my husband and I had our first date! How did they know the restaurant? We had it on our website, in the ‘our story’ section and in a city guide section (our recommendations for places to eat, drink and shop since our families are from out of state).

I know my FH's family probably looked at it cuz they found it before it was complete so I had locked it until I was done with it. Ironically though, FH's cousin asked him that the hotel reservation said she needed a code and I said NO it doesn't. Follow the link on the website, or just our names is what they need, type in the date and click check availability then the rate pops up. I am like does she not know this when she's already been married Smiley ups I don't have the ability to check because theknot took that feature away I believe! Maybe people are looking at it now because my registries are linked on there for the shower.

Ours was ABSOLUTELY vital, to be honest! It was our backup RSVP location (stragglers, people who lost their invitation, etc), our direct link to our hotel block reservations, and it also was super helpful for people needing directions, addresses, and general information. Most of our guests who purchased gifts also used the links to our registry on our website.

Obviously, guests in my parents generation and older (mid fifties and up) were a little less likely to use the website, but our friends, cousins, etc. all had used it and really appreciated the effort.

I don't think many people have looked at mine either. I made it mainly for easy access to our registries! However, my shower and wedding invites just went out so maybe more people will begin to look at it now!

I know some of our guests did (in addition to all the bridesmaids & our moms). Because you had to to RSVP (we got around 15% of our RSVPs online) and our registry is on there. I spent a LONG time on our website but I personally like wedding websites so that was why.

Since wedding websites have become a thing, I've made it a point to bookmark the websites of weddings I'm attending. If I have a question about anything like dress code, time frames, etc., I just go look at the website to see if it's there before I start bothering the busy couple. It can also be a godsend if you're on your way and you realize you forgot a venue address.
