Congratulations! Youve definitely come to the right place Smiley smile First thing is to figure out a budget that you can reasonably stick to. Figure out how you want to allocate it... generally speaking a good rule of thumb is to come up with your top 3 priorities. (Like for example, photography, venue, and food) that you’ll want to splurge on, and everything else is secondary. That’s just one strategy to help you prioritize your money.

Then make up a *tentative* guest list (just to get an idea of how many you’ll want to invite... like whether it’s closer to 20, 50, 100, 300+, etc...) and then start looking for venues within your price range and that can fit the number of people you want.

It really depends on what you’re imagining in your wedding and what you can afford! Some people spend $40k on weddings and that’s not that much to them, others spend $5k and that’s a lot to them, so 🤷🏻‍♀️

Lol we all wish money grew on trees! Your budget is going to depend on how much you're willing to spend - we ended up deciding against DIYing because I figured I would stress myself out way too much and I'm already prone to anxiety as is. Take a look at your income and figure out how much you can comfortably save up to your wedding date- that should be your budget as a general rule.

But I like Gen's rule too. Cake didn't mean as much to us, so we're having a smaller cake without trimmings. You have to pick where you want the money to go. And catering will probably be pricey. As a general rule, more people means more money, so keep that in mind too!
Congrats and good luck with planning!!!

I was looking into the DIYing I have a lot of aunts that willing to help! I am so blessed to have that in my life. We have done so much DIYs for quince and stuff.. but we’ll see how the stress level goes haha. Definitely going to need a huge venue and like you said food is pricey, more people is more expensive. Thanks girly!

    Congratulations Samantha,

So exciting for you, the most important things are choosing and booking your venue and photographer as these two things are often booked up 2 years in advance, you can decide about food 6 months or so before the wedding, establishing your budget is important also, understanding that your venue ( especially if they offer a package that includes food and beverage, flowers etc. ) and photographer are your biggest expenses, some venues will supply the photographer also. Keep in mind that bridal shops vary in the times that it takes you to actually get your dress after the fitting, it can take 6 or 7 months with alterations, my wedding isn't until Feb. 2021, but I've had my dress for 4 months already, minus the final alteration, so if you find your DREAM DRESS, buy it, don't continue to shop, you'll know in your ❤️ also, you may want to think about a second dress to change into after the ceremony, many girls do this now, it's much easier navigating the room and dancing with the second 👗 my dress is from Stella York style 6979 from the 2019 collection if you care to Google it, my second dress is from jjshouse, style 105912 my bridesmaids will wear this dress in lilac and I will be in lavender, Good luck, I'm very happy for you.Don

This is amazing!!! This has really helped me start gathering my thoughts. Where to start who to contact, money budgets! I’ll have to work extra hard to lose weight as I am a the little chunky side lol. I told my fiancé “ I am not going to be fat on my wedding day!” Lol
