Year out..what are you working on?

Chelsea, on July 7, 2020 at 12:29 PM Posted in Planning 1 11

I know WW has the checklist but it only says to be working on registry... What were you working on a year out???

I still need some big vendors and i have tons of DIY projects. IDK what i should be working on. I have a dress appointment today so well see how that goes.

We are about 13 months out so similar boat! We're currently working on our Save the Dates and finishing sketching centerpiece ideas! I never thought of doing Save the Dates before but with everything going on I want people to have extra time to plan. Dress shopping I think is a great place to be!

What other vendors are you missing?

This might not sound so helpful, but i found you can change the timeline of when u do certain things on here. u can start working on some things ahead of time, change the time frame of it and then check mark it off as "done".

i love this quote, lol... it's (wedding wire time line) a rough outline you can tweak for yourself.

Well my engagement photos keep getting pushed around from my photographer so might be in a search for a new one as he still hasnt sent me a contract. But save the dates im hoping to send out in the fall time. Centerpieces I have ideas, I gathered all mason jars but i need to paint them and work on logs soon.

I dont have flowers, videographer yet.

I would be nailing down the vendors... they tend to fill up fast (even a year out). Photographer, florist, baker, and DJ. You have the dress so that's great! If you don't already have a venue, that's the first step. Save the dates could be sent out 4-6 months before the wedding and invites then 2-3 months beforehand.

We worked on all the major vendors (venue, photographer, and DJ). I honestly wouldn't even bother with the registry yet because you will have to change half the items because they'll start getting discontinued and changing prices and such so much between now and when people will look at it. I also personally preferred the checklist on The Knot compared to the one on Wedding Wire. I have no idea why they're different when it's the same company, but they are lol.

I would get all of your major vendors contracted as soon as possible, especially because they're booking up faster than usual because of the covid-related postponements. Also, getting all of the contracts done feels amazing!

I'm currently working on the bridal and groom party proposals, booking vendors (venue, reception, catering done, wedding dresses(2) ordered) I'm currently looking for a florists, Dj, and decor rentals like photo booth and baristas for non alcoholic beverages. I also had this question! You are not alone in this! I'm also looking into DIY as well! Youtube has been a ton of help for me. I'm also working on the timeline and traditions we want incorporated and not missed for the wedding day.

A year out, I was wondering if DH was going to propose. He kept me hanging for *FOUR* more months.

... I guess I'm not very helpful here, lol!

No, at that point, I did drag him to the bookstore and we bought a planning book.

    Which collected dust until January.

We worked on getting the major vendors out of the way, which we did. Venue, Catering (came w/ venue), photographer and DJ. We found out upon booking all the vendors were nearly booked for 2021 already, but luckily had our date of choice open.

We are getting married July 1, 2021. At this point we have:

    - Booked our photographer

    - I have ordered my dress

    - We have figured out my fiance's attire

We are doing an "adventure elopement" (going to wake up and go for an early morning hike and get married at sunrise, somewhere amazing) - but we still need to decide on our "somewhere amazing" lol. We have been doing MANY sunrise hikes to our favorite alpine lakes and our favorite spots out in the mountains to figure out where we like best.

After we have the location, we will pretty much be done.

We're getting married July 25, 2021 and thus far we have our venue, catering (comes with venue), DJ (my uncle), I figured out some favors I want to do (slowly buying the materials needed), I've designed my Save The Dates, & my Nana is taking care of my flowers. My godmother is paying for our cake & while I've spoken to a few, they've told me it's a bit too early to book that so I'm waiting (I also don't know how to explain what I want in a cake or design). I've been looking at dresses, but know I need to book an appointment & trying to do it around some schedules is going to be hard.

The fact that you already have your dress is amazing so I'd say just get a lot of big vendors out of the way. If you book those then you should at least be fine. Trust me, I know how it feels to not know what to do next. I feel like I have wedding block or something, but I know I need to continue planning.
