Writing a thank you note to someone you've never met...

Meredith, on September 19, 2011 at 10:45 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 4

FH and I are registered at Macy's. We have already received some wedding gifts. Since we don't live together - the gifts have been delivered to my parent's house. Every gift that we've received so far have been from my guest list. However, we got some towels from someone on FH's side. I don't know this person - it's a friend of his mom's. (FH barely knows her as well). What should I write for a thank you?

Just thank her for the gifts and her kindness. If she is invited to the wedding let her know you look forward to meeting her at the wedding.

    Exactly as Stacy said.

Have him write it. It wasn't a shower gift to you. It was a gift to both of you. No reason he can't write the thank you note. He should know the person better and it would sound much more personal coming from him.

I agree with Shana. I am having FH write the thank you notes to his side of the guest list, and I am writing to my side.
