WR: ALTERNATIVE To Krispy Kreme Favors

Andrene, on August 18, 2011 at 10:51 AM Posted in Planning 0 21

I had planned on doing 2 packs of Krispy Kreme donuts as favors at my after party.

https://www.weddingwire.com/wedding-forums/wr-krispy-kreme-favors/05d6241f6bfeee1e.html.

I did a test run with the shipment and found that they don’t travel well (the glaze melts). I’m really bummed about this but have no choice but to find another idea. What could I do that would be just as fun and delicious???

Can you talk to the company? Did you get some money back for the poor delivery? I'm surprised they don't have cooler trucks.

What a shame... I love Krispy Kreme donuts!

@Hayley: I knew it was a risk before I placed the order. They didn't want to send them because they have been getting complaints about this problem. But I wouldn't listen so told them to send me a test shipment so I could see for myself. I was really holding out hope that it would work out.

Already doing a full open bar and a ton of savory foods as this will be a full cocktail style party the next day:

I do not have any dessert so wanted to do something casual and fun and I know everyone loves Krispy Kremes. I figure donuts are more drunk type food that you can grab and go with coffee than something more fancy. I had debated cupcakes and canolis before but neither seemed to fit for this.

    GAH! Bummer :o(

Okay... what about this idea - small coffee garnished with a small sugar donut? Or (my personal favorite) milk martini garnished with a chocolate cookie?

    I'm brainstorming ...

Biscotti is a really cute idea.

Or mini Cotton Candy? (already packaged)

I wonder why Krispie Kreme can't make the shipment with dry ice to keep the glaze cool....

These are all great ideas but way too fancy. I need super casual for this party.

Do you have a local, non chain, doughnut shop? They might have some neat stuff!

I'm also doing a sliders station at the reception. They will be made by the hotel though. I love the idea of anything in minature. I even got them to throw in mini hotdogs and mini glasses of vanilla, strawberry and chocolate milkshaes plus regular and sweet potato fries.
