Would you spend $ for chair covers?

Nisa, on February 19, 2019 at 5:04 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 34

My colors are blush, navy, and various golds. My venue has these black folding chairs with green padding. I'm not a fan of them, but in most pictures of my venue people have opted not to cover them. Do you think it's worth it to cover them? my thought is that once people sit down, throw jackets over, etc. it's not really going to matter and in five years I probably won't even remember what the chairs looked like. But I'm also worried that guests will be like "what was she thinking" haha

If you can fit it in your budget, I would cover them. If not, I don't think it's a deal breaker.

How much are the covers? I think it would be nice to have but not worth more than like $100 imo

How much are covers? Renting nicer chairs would be around $5 per chair so it wouldn't be worth it if the cover was $3 or $4 (at least to me).

They're about $100 for just the covers, with sashes it'd be more like $150.

I agree with this I'd cover them too as long as it could be down for under $100. Maybe check around and see if theres a company who could rent them to you for cheap!

For $100 I'd just cover them! I wouldn't pay the extra for the sashes though.

Also that photo you showed, the table setting was very plain too (not that there’s anything wrong with that) but I think a more colorful or detailed table setting would draw attention away from the chairs. This is a venue we toured and the chairs were really ugly too lol but this was the room set up for another wedding, and I would barely think about the chairs here

Personally, I’m not a fan of chair covers. Because navy is one of your colors, what about using that color as your table covers? It might help the dark chairs blend in! 😊

Yeah my centerpiece is a bit more involved than those in the pictures.
I keep going back and forth, and it's killing me! haha. I'm going to have to steam all my tablecloths and transport them myself, so I feel like if I did a polyester cover it wouldn't workout well. And spandex looks a little tacky to me but then again, I feel like chair covers are inherently tacky - my chairs are just MORE tacky naked haha

What color would you go for?

So my tablecloths are navy, but a lighter navy, if that makes sense. I don't know what the exact color is since I bought them secondhand. So I was thinking either an ivory, or a blush. But is blush too much? Is ivory? Is my entire wedding blowing up in my face over chair covers? Am I being dramatic? (yes)

I would just go ivory. Ivory will match with anything and won't cause a dramatic look blush and navy might be a bit overwhelming depending on the colors tone.

If you are having navy table covers I would leave the chairs as is. A light colour such a blush will just accentuate the chairs and make them stand up weirdly. And navy would be too matchy matchy. Personally, Im not bothering with chair covers and my chairs are red! I figure with the lighting and decor it really isn't a big deal. And except for the first moment people walk into the reception space they will never see the room all empty like the pics. Save the money and the stress!

I would get chair covers, it’ll look nicer than the black and green, both of which clash with your wedding color scheme!

Not a fan of chair covers. I have never been to a wedding and wished the chairs had covers on them.

YAY. I think you're fine. The chairs won't be noticeable. They would be if against white, blush, light colors. Save the money. Smiley smile

What are you doing for centerpieces? I think tall glass pillar candles or florals with a little height will help bring the eye up the table (and to that gorgeous window view and wood ceilings!).

We are going to have chair covers, we are getting them for like $2 a piece and honestly it would drivee nuts to see the uncovered chairs in pictures.

While I don't love chair covers, I like them a whole lot more than ugly chairs that clash with color schemes. I don't think they're a make-or-break detail, but that kind of chair, uncovered, definitely detract from the overall look in my opinion.

Here are the differences in our venue with uncovered chairs (site picture) vs covered (our wedding). Even my dad commented on how much better it looked once we covered the chairs.
