religion"called the UDV (União do Vegetal, ) pretty much a rubber farmer (gabriel) found jesus and jesus told them to drink this tea so everyone can get high which will make them closer to god: they have dress code, males are leaders only, when you drink the psychedelic tea if you throw up its evil leaving the body (congrats!) ceremonies are at night. they hang pictures of "master Gabriel" everywhere from their living room to cars.

I do not like anything about the UDV, its very cult like to me, and I do not believe taking drugs will bring you closer to God, I dont like some mans pictures on the wall....

His cousin is getting married at the church in November, hes going to our wedding, but i really don't want to go. they are having religious based wedding then "ceremony" (tea drinking part) then reception after.

I am quoting directly from what you said. The only thing missing is the issue with drugs. Which is totally fair.

As a Christian, I would want to show my love and support of the couple, even if we have different beliefs. That being said, they would have to excuse me for not wanting to drink the drug tea. I'd skip out on that whole part hands down. That makes me very uncomfortable. To each their own, I suppose!

WTF there is no way in hell I would go to something like that! I would decline especially since you have expressed that you are uncomfortable.

"It bothers me about the drugs and how they worship the master Gabriel more than they do god." Was the quote

You said I said that they don't believe in god which you disproved in the quote anyways

OP, you obviously are completely against going. I think we can all see that. So just don't go. There's nothing wrong with not going because it makes you feel uncomfortable.

Also note that they are calling it a religious wedding ceremony and he said "it is very important for us to be married in the UDV under the eyes of master Gabriel "

Normally I would, but if they are requiring people to drink this tea then I would opt out. Being there is one thing being forced to be that involved is another and I find it a true safety issue

I wouldn't go. This sounds weird and long and not at all the equivalent of an atheist sitting through a 30 min Christian ceremony. Or attending a Jewish ceremony.

It's in the middle of the night for hours with people vomiting. No thanks

It seems your mind is made up about not going. And that's okay if you don't want to go. Doesn't make you a bad person because of the difference in religion, it's the context and tea that seems to be your issue. And that's okay. Decline the invitation and just have your FH attend if it's important to him.

Listen to your gut feeling. If you do not feel comfortable going, then don't go. I'm with @MsSCT this could be Gods way of keeping you safe.

I will probably have to go and sit outside or bring a book . My FH will not be participating either which may be awkward for him . We discussed this before when we were dating (he didn't like to talk about it and i think he knows it's a little out there... I didn't even know what it was until We were invited and I looked it up )that this wouldn't be somthing I would be ok with him, me or any children we had to study or worship.

He agreed he didn't believe in the religion

Send them a nice gift and call it good. Maybe make an effort to take them out to dinner after they get married.

I think it depends on if the wedding is just something you don't fully agree with or if it is directly opposed to your religious beliefs. In this case it feels like the latter.

Our priest actually used this question as an example in our marriage prep. For example, I and my FH are both devoutly Catholic. We have no problem going to a non-religious, protestant, Jewish, Hindu, or Muslim wedding because we don't see this as a direct contradiction of our faith. We also don't have a problem going to a wedding if we know the couple lived together and/or was having sex before marriage even though we haven't and don't agree with the choice. However, we wouldn't go to a wedding that involved Wicca/Witchcraft or something like you described because we see it as directly opposed to our faith as opposed to just not in agreement.

I have gone to a Wiccan wedding before, it's very ritual and about nature.

    Satanic or magical is different

My aunts husband is something to do with stars and science, their daughters "life ceremony " was interesting, astrology based

There's a (small margin) of difference between a religion and a cult. I'm an atheist, so religion in general doesn't play a big part in my life but I was raised Catholic and have friends of various beliefs. I would attend a ceremony of various religious denominations out of respect for the bride and groom but not necessarily take part in all the customs. This ceremony sounds boarderlime cult-Ish. With drugged drink I would be a little concerned for my safety. It's one thing to attend a ceremony of a different established religion and be respectful of others' beliefs, it's another to be at a drug trip worshipping this random guy.

Ok I actually went and just looked up info about this since I had never heard about this religion. From what I read everyone who drinks this tea will be sitting around like a zombie, high off this tea for 4-5 hours. Um no thanks. I'm sorry we won't make it, here's a nice gift and card

    What is in this tea????

Personally, I would go to the part that doesn't have tea drinking / any of the religious aspects that would make me uncomfortable, and if doing that was unavoidable I would politely decline and send a gift.

I assume the caffeine in tea is the issue?
