Would you get a replica ring for day to day wear?

My ring isn't huge, but it is very big and expensive in my opinion. My ring isn't huge, but it is very big and expensive in my opinion. Since I walk through "rough" parts of town daily, and am fairly active around the house (lots of cleaning, cooking) am considering getting a replica ring and only wearing the original when going out. I ran the idea past my FS and he doesn't mind.

My questions are:

1. Do you have a ring for this purpose?

2. Where did you get it?

3. Does it mostly match your original ring?

Yes I got a replica ring, but not for everyday wear, for when we go on holidays/honeymoon. It doesn't look exactly like the one I have, but it has the things, princess cut center stone, princess cut half eternity band. I got it from Inspired silver.

My best friend lives in Chicago with her husband. Flights are cheap from Pittsburgh to Chicago and vice versa on Southwest. I got my roundtrip ticket for less than $200! Sweet! They've been living near the pier (you can see Oprah's apt building from theirs...lol). But now that she's pregnant, they're moving to suburbia. Not sure where yet.

I personally wouldn't get a replica, but that's just me.

**Karen, I live in Chicago and there's another bride on her that I know is close to Chicago, where exactly are you walking through? Oak Park?

I'd personally skip wearing a replica. This is just my opinion on it, but...

--the replica wouldn't be sentimental the way your e-ring is.

--if the whole point of getting a fake ring is because of the "rough" neighborhood, at 20 feet away, you can't tell the difference between a real diamond and a replica, so if someone's going to rob you, they'd probably rob you regardless of it being real or fake. They wouldn't know the real cost til it was too late. It's not like they're going to say "oops, my bad. It's just a fake ring. Oh and here's your purse back."

I walk North on Sedgwich from Chicago to North Avenue. Which is very near the old Cabrini Green Complex. Even when I walk out of my way to avoid it, I am still walking 2.5 miles each way through downtown Chicago at 630am, and it will soon be dark at that time.

I think I let us get very hung up on safety, it is also because I am clumsy and getting it scratched up quickly. My FS is completely OK as he knows how much I love it and how sad I am every time I find a new scratch.

I'm familiar with that area. Well, if it's something that you feel would make you happier, then go for it!

Why am I not that sentimental about my rings? LOL. I care more about my wedding band (my great-gma's 2 wedding bands soldered together) than I do my e-ring. And I'm only sentimental because they were hers. I'm such a weirdo.

I''m all about the replica. You don't want to draw too much attention to youself s it could be a good idea to downsize!
