Work travel and wedding planning

Caitlin , on June 30, 2019 at 10:05 PM Posted in Planning 0 7
I have a full time job that i have to travel for every 3 months (overseas)
i am struggling to finish planning our wedding in October of this year and my job wants me to travel mid August.
Do you think it’s appropriate to ask i sit this one out? I am worried about how i will look saying that i feel like i can’t travel bc i need more time to plan

any advice?

I think it depends on what is more important to you.
I'd probably just pushed everything as hard as possible and go. But I'm a workaholic.

I think it's okay to do that.
Sometimes things can get overwhelming so I think it's ok if you need a little break from something to better focus on another

    Hey Caitlin!

I think this decision cannot be made by anyone other than you. Do you have an open and positive relationship with your boss? Perhaps you could discuss this with them, see what your options are and how everything would flow should you sit this work trip out.

I definitely think that if it works for you, and your boss understands the pressure you are under and the work that you need to do at home, that it would be fine.

I am going to talk to my boss this morning. I think it’s ok to sit this one out. I am just worried bc i am up for promotion that this could affect how i am
looking saying i cannot travel until after the wedding. Also to add the places they want to send me are not super safe or stable which also makes me uneasy about traveling now

I think it really depends on how long you need to travel for. Two months before your wedding all of the major things should be taken care of and you should be able to step away for a week. If you'd be gone for a month, I can see where that would be a conflict. I strongly believe in living up to your obligations and if this is something you knew was part of your job expectations, I would do everything possible not to miss it.

Great that you have time carved out to discuss this with your boss. I definitely think that you should address all of your concerns that you are both on the same page. that will make the decision a lot easier. 😊

Hey Caitlin. Did you speak to your manager? Will you have to travel?
