Winter Wedding in Seattle...Am I crazy??

Amy, on May 27, 2011 at 7:06 PM Posted in Planning 0 7

It’s only nice about 2 months of the year, so rather than wait until summer 2012, we want to do it Winter Wonderland style. Anyone getting married in Winter ****. Our date is January 2012 in Seattle. I'm wondering about how to do pictures as it gets dark at 4:30pm (and only if its isn’t rainy will we be outside), do I wear a coat with my dress? other ideas about when, its raining that day. Should I provide umbrellas for the wedding party and ourselves.?? Any thoughts are SO appreciated and helpful.

I visit in Seattle in the winter and I think the weather is lovely then and much warmer that Nebraska in the winter. I think with the sun shining in the winter you could probably skip the coat and enjoy. Maybe have an early wedding and enjoy the light. Congrats!

If your not apposed to Fh seeing you before you walk down the isle- do pictures before the ceremony. You can find some really pretty fur stoles/cloaks online to keep you warm while still being elegant. But if i were you i wouldnt even attempt an outdoor wedding, the likely hood of it being nice is next to none. lol

Oh, yes indeed, wedding and reception are definately inside, I'm just thinking for outside pictures, our reception is near the water/beach.

Www.courtinthesquare.com (you'll have to google it to see better pictures, I think I have it posted on my wedding site too if you want to take a peek), looks like it's outside, but it's not Smiley smile It's in Pioneer Square. My only advisory to a winter wedding in Seattle is that if it DOES snow (which we know doesn't happen often, but when it does it ices over) then your guests may have a very difficult getting to the wedding or may not want to chance it, especially since Seattle is full of hills. I would have the wedding much earlier in the day if you want daylight photos, otherwise, make sure your photographer is good with low lighting.

I am in Portland. I got married on a late November evening at 7PM (the date in my profile is my daughters wedding date.

There were no issues with photos, although we did not take in outdoors (nor did we intend to.)

You should be fine. If you want outdoor photos, ask your photographer. He/she should be experienced with this.

I will second Jen. When we get snow it almost always ices over. Where are you planning on getting married. That may make a difference also. There are some beautiful wraps you could use for yourself and your BMs.
