"Will you be my bridesman?" package?

Vivian, on June 24, 2019 at 10:19 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 3

I am having five people total in my bridal party, two of which are males. One of them is a gay friend of a long time, and the other is my brother, who is six years younger than me. I was planning on sending a package to all of my bridesmaids with robes for getting ready, a wine glass with their initials, etc., but I came up with this idea before encompassing the boys.

Just to give you an idea of what type of guy my brother is: he's 24, has blonde dreadlocks, and would rather spend an evening "drinking wine" with his girlfriend than go out drinking. He's already told me he has no interest in being included in the bachelorette party, which is fine by me. His role is more to give a speech at the rehearsal dinner and stand up with us on the day of.

I've already spoken to both of them about how the day of will go down, so I know neither of them need a robe. So my question is, what in the world should I send them? Should I send them anything at all? I think my gay friend would be delighted to receive a scented candle, monogrammed cup, etc., but I honestly can't picture my brother's response being anything other than, "um, okay."

I had a bridesman and I pretty much gave him the same thing as I did my bridesmaids. Instead of a bracelet or necklace with a bow knot I gave him cufflinks with a knot design, etc.

    Congratulations on your engagement Vivian!!

If your brother loves to drink wine, then I think getting the boys a wine glass with their initials on it will work perfectly for them also. You could also get them a pair of cute socks to wear on the wedding day, either with a fun design or even get personalized ones if you felt like they would prefer that. Cufflinks are also a great idea if you were going to get the BM’s a piece of jewelry.

You don’t have to overthink these gifts if you feel like you need alternatives for the boys you don’t have to go crazy. Think about their personalities, what they would like and what they would use again.

I would get him socks, cuff links and a nice bottle of wine and throw in a ring pop candy!
