Will my venue open

Steph, on June 4, 2020 at 11:23 PM Posted in Florida Planning 0 16
So I called my venue and they said they’re closed for the next month maybe more. Does anyone have any idea or guess as to when they’ll let wedding venues open or bigger gatherings? My wedding is October 23. Just getting nervous.

It all depends on your state. Some have allowed venues to open with restrictions like no dancing (Ohio), others have not opened indoor spaces at all (Illinois), and others are allowed to fully open with just some extra precautions in place (Wisconsin)....these are just a few examples. Where is your state at in the reopening process? Are there phases and timelines that have been provided? The other factor is even when states allow venues to open, a venue can still choose to wait. I don’t see why they would do that, but it is possible. So many factors! Keeping my fingers crossed for you. 🤞

Depends on your state. October is in a long time thought so I’d try not to worry too much (I know easier said than done!)

I hope things work out for you! As things are slowly reopening there’s still hope that things could open up entirely. Especially by October

It is entirely up to your local authorities. Your best way to find that out is to follow the local data. If you are in a state where the numbers are going down, you are likely to have some kind of opening, though with restrictions and safety protocols in place. On the other hand, if the numbers are going up, you may not see them open in time.

Either way, coming up with a Plan B may not be the worst idea.

It depends on your state and accordance to the different phases. I would def considered looking more into that and seeing when they do open how many ppl can you have. Here in nyc we aren't even on pharse 1 until Monday and we can't gather in groups at this time.

This is going to vary from state to state. I know for my wedding, my venue coordinator and I have stayed in touch and she told me that my husband's and I's wedding this past February was their last wedding and they've had to cancel/reschedule all of their weddings and events until mid July. They plan on reevaluating the beginning of July and may have to extend it. They just have to wait and see.

I would say just keep in touch with your venue for updates. My husband and I have two weddings to go to later this year that are out of state - one in September and one in October, and both couples are continuing to plan their wedding as if they won't have to postpone.

I'm in the same shoes as you except my wedding will be in Georgia. I am a bit nervous as well. I recently reached out to my venue and caterer. If they think it's possible, I'm going for it. But it will also depend on how extreme the restrictions are. If it's not what I have hope for, I've already decided there's a slight chance I will postpone again until next year. My fiance wants to just go to the court house and get marry but we have already invested so much money I don't want it all to go to nothing.

Hi Steph! I’m in the same boat as you and getting married in FL in October. FL just went into phase 2 of reopening which means gatherings of no more than 50 people. My hope is that we will be in phase 3 by oct which means no cap on guests. Just to be safe, I’ll be sending my invites July-early August in the event I need to cut my guest list. Best of luck...hoping things will be okay by then! Feel free to read the governors reopening plan for more info

Thank you this helped a lot I’m from Florida. Is your venue currently closed? Mine is for weddings but it’s also a golf course which is open. What phase do you think they’ll open ?

Oh i’m so glad! Yes my venue closed all weddings through June but I believe they will reopen in July. It’s hard to say when things will open up but I think it’s a good sign that we are now in phase 2...even theme parks are reopening so that gives me hope my wedding will be a go!

Yes my venue said they were closed all of June but I don’t know why because aren’t they following the phases? Do you know what phase venues open? I looked online and saw something saying they open phase 2 at 50% so idk why they aren’t open. I’m in palm
Beach so we are still on phase 1 technically. I think our phase 2 should be in the next 2 weeks hopefully

I don't know, I'm so sorry! I think it also depends on the venue's interpretation of the state guidelines. I need to touch base with my venue today as well as they are operated by the local government. Hope everything works out for you Steph!
