Why change clothes during your reception?

Nacele, on August 10, 2011 at 2:55 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 21

Omg, I went to a wedding last weekend and the entire party including the bride changed into street clothes. If I didn't know them I wouldn't have known it was her wedding. I don't konw about anyone else but, during my wedding my party already knows there is to be no changing their clothes. With the money spent on the wedding they are going to have to tuff it out..

LOL. We are having a more casual destination wedding, so I may change (but not into street clothes - something nice) for the reception. If we were going to be inside and climate controlled, I wouldn't bother.

That would be ok to me iif you are having a destination wedding but, she had a dress up wedding and the only people that we're dressed up was the guest. Congrats on your wedding....

My dress is a huge ballgown i got for $60 at a flee market. its way too heavy to dance in so im going to get a prom dress and change into that for the reception. Smiley smile bot street clothes though i agree that is strange

I can kind of understand doing two dresses, a ceremony one and a reception one, but I'm not changing out of my tux and I wouldn't expect anyone to change. I'd also be insulted if I went to a wedding dressed up and the bride and groom changed into street clothes.

I never understood why either. Shit, I'm paying a few hundred dollars for a white big beautiful dress I can't wear anywhere else, so I'm going to rock that dress all night long!!

I didn't care what my guests did but I was bound and determined to stay in my dress as long as possible. My mom kept wanting to give me a pashmina because she thought I was cold and I told her I didn't care if I turned blue I was staying in my dress Smiley laugh

Yeah, I don't get changing into steet clothes. Into nice attire that didn't weigh as much as a wedding dress, fine, but otherwise, what's the point of going through all that ot get ready?

Yeah that's different... the only time I can see myself changing out of my dress is when the guests line up to do the sprinkers ... we're planning on having an after party at a club/bar we frequently go too and I'm a little nervous it getting trashed there. But even then... I see myself not wanting to get out of it!!!

I agree that is just dumb why would you spend money and a nice wedding dress just to take it off for the party which last way longer then the ceremony, heck if I could I would still be wearing my wedding dress!

There is no way I'm changing out of my wedding dress. I feel sorry for my hubby because I doubt I'll take it off for 3 or 4 days after the wedding lol!

That's...weird. I NEVER wanted to take my dress off! Even when we got home from our reception at 2:30 am!

I'm undecided. I bought a shorter, simpler dress to MAYBE change into for the reception, after everyone shows up & sees me in my wedding dress...just because it's going to be outside and more casual and I don't want to get my dress dirty running around outside. Who knows, I may stay in it the whole time. However, I would not change into street clothes. That is weird.

That is really crazy. I specifically wanted to stay away from a really big ball gown because I wanted to be comfortable during the reception. i don't have to pick up my train the entire night. I def don't see the point of changing either, unless you have specific reasons like some of the ones mentioned above.

We wore the same dresses for the ceremony and luncheon one day, and the at-home reception three days later. With the ridiculous prices for wedding dresses, we were going to wear ours for as long as we could!

I want to, but due to an amazing idea FH has for the first dance I wouldn't be able to.

I will be buying a smaller dress to wear to the reception. Something that will fit the level of movement i will need.

I'm wearing that thing until FH pries it off! I have a ballgown style, too. It's not super-poofy, but does have pick-ups.

Now, the shoes I want to get are another story. I'm not sure if I'll be able to keep them on all night. I rarely wear heels, but I'm practicing!
