Im not panicking yet, but im a little overwhelmed, and am wondering about the grooms side... Ive heard in modern times it is typical to have the grooms side FLOP: Flowers Liquor Orchestra Photography. How did you approach this? Did you sit down with your families together? Separately? Obviously I would never ask any parental party for help paying, but paying myself seems like a huge load, so im getting another job lol

H's mom offered to pay for the rehearsal dinner & flowers. We had already picked out & paid a deposit on the flowers so I told her not to worry about them. I would have felt weird accepting money without her having any input. H's parents did cover the rehearsal dinner, but we didn't ask them to...they offered. I think the modern etiquette is assume you are paying for everything & if someone offers to chip in...great.

I've never heard of FLOP. Have the wedding you can afford.

Just ask. I asked my dad what he could pay for, my brother just came out and offered a lump sum (he will not be buying shower present, etc...) which I find more helpful. My mom's bf is also going to match what my dad paid. So if you have any questions or doubts, just gotta ask.

We paid for the majority of our wedding ourselves, but our parents definitely helped. Each gave us a check for what they could afford to help us out. They also ended up offering to pay for other things along the way...my parents bought my dress and paid for alterations, DH's parents paid for the rehearsal dinner and a large chunk of our honeymoon.

Our families OFFERED to pay for these things and to give us money. We didn't ask them for anything.

Both his parents and my own gave us a dollar amount. My parents also gifted us our honeymoon. FH just casually asked his mom if rehearsal dinner was apart of the $ amount and she said no. So they are covering that separately as well.
