Who's NOT having a Videographer?

Is it really necessary to shell out another couple of thousand for a videographer when at the most the only thing watched will be a 5 minute Vimeo video? (I don't see myself watching an hour of video footage at any moment), and some moments are better not videotaped...like getting dressed... I know...

I know videos can be nice to capture some live footage aside from still photos, but is it really necessary when there are phones with pretty high quality video?

We aren't. It is a luxury. If I were to come into extra money I would consider it, but it isn't that important to us.

I'd say more than half of my couples do not. Really personal preference and budget dependent.

No way in hell. I wouldn't watch it. Waste of money for me.

I wouldn't call it a necessity so if you don't have it in your budget, don't worry about it.

My father can't come to the wedding, and even though he is royally pissing me off right now, one day when we do start to get a long again, I'll want to share it with him. But even before that, I was talking to my MOH (in passing) about how much I love the little highlight videos people post. So she did some snooping around herself and found a couple that does videos for 1000 bucks, but was willing to do mine for 600, since they were friends of her sister.

    Godsend.

We are not having one. We never had home videos growing up so I'm not used to watching them. In high school at my career center I was recorded to be used in the career center's promotional video and they gave me a copy. Maybe watched it once and haven't watched it again. Neither of us would watch it if we had one so there was no reason to spend the egregious amount of money.

We are not. The venue includes a ceremony video. Our reception is more of a private dinner and the only reception things we are doing are first dance and cake cutting. There really isn't enough to justify the cost. I'm ok withi it. I had one at my first wedding and we never watched it beyond the first time.

Didn't have one. Don't regret it. Not a budget issue, just knew we'd never ever watch it again in our entire life.

We aren't having a videographer. I don't see the point. I will be emotional enough during the ceremony, I don't need to relive it!!

So glad that I'm not the only one against tags videographer thing. I had one for my Bat Mitzvah , never wanted to watch it .

A few highlight clips will suffice for us (taken by guests)

We are not having one but I am going to buy a cheap video camera and ask my uncle to record the ceremony for us. I think that is all we need on record!

Will not be having one and though I've heard people say that was their favorite part I doubt I'll regret it. Plus it's expensive!

I wasn't going to but in the end booked a guy. My dad said, "In 20 years, you won't remember". And this is a sad but true tale, I'll likely out live my DH, and one day when I'm 90 years old, I'll just have that video and those photos of him. On that day, I'll know that the $1000 was worth it.

Alternatively you could just get an uncle or someone to set up a tripod and hit play. It won't be professional quality, but you'll have a video Smiley smile

We did not hire a videographer, but the ceremony was such a blur and I barely remember it. Luckily, my aunt and one of DH's uncles recorded the ceremony and are providing us with copies. My advice is, if you think you'll watch it, ask a friend or family member to record it (or just set up a tripod).

Luckily, my best friend's husband has a nice camera with a tripod. He's gonna set that up and video our ceremony. A co-worker also offered to show up and use his remote-controlled drone with camera. I may have him do that too, as he can get different angles, and our wedding is outdoors.

I wanted a videographer but FH was totally against it. He thought we would never watch it. So the other day, we were talking to our point of contact at the venue and the subject of video came up. She has been married a few years and said she looks at her pictures maybe once a year but watches her video several times a year. She said a video will capture voice, laughter, smiles from family members who are getting older and may not be around for very long and you'll want to remember her voice, her giggle fits, etc. My FH was sold after that. So now I'm searching for a videographer that has my date available.

We probably won't have one due to the budget...if we find ourselves with spendable $ (which I doubt), I'll book one but if not, oh well Smiley smile

One of our biggest regrets. We allowed pictures and videos but not one person got a decent video of the ceremony. And now we would love to have it.
