Who's NOT having a Videographer?

jewles322, on October 20, 2014 at 10:46 PM Posted in Planning 0 51

Is it really necessary to shell out another couple of thousand for a videographer when at the most the only thing watched will be a 5 minute Vimeo video? (I don't see myself watching an hour of video footage at any moment), and some moments are better not videotaped...like getting dressed...

I know videos can be nice to capture some live footage aside from still photos, but is it really necessary when there are phones with pretty high quality video?

I'm not having one. I never even really considered it... To me it seems like a luxury item so I would only get it if I had a really big budget for the wedding.

If it helps at all I didn't have one because I didn't think I would watch it or it would be worth it for all the money.

I regret it and wish I had one.

I don't like the sound of my own voice and I would feel awkward watching a video of myself, haha. I won't have any regrets about not booking one. I do however look back at photos all the time so I am very happy to be getting lots of great photos of us.

Not us. Prices start at $1000 and just go up and up and up. I never even gave it a 2nd thought.

If you trust the professional and its reasonably priced. At least budget for 1 camera coverage. ($1,000-$1,500) Capture in a creative way that makes you want to watch it over and over and share it all over Smiley smile

Would it be tacky to have signs to ask Guests to "please posts Photos/Videos to your Hashtag? (We are having 2 photographers)

We aren't having one either, originally in 1988 we did and we only watched it maybe 5 times over the years.

Snitz2Send, I think a lot of people are doing that lately. I would Google up some images or search hashtag in the forums and a bunch of stuff will pop up. People make their own hashtag #Snitz2SendWedding etc. My friend had a cute one #*AndMitchGettingHitched. You can put them to Instagram or post a wedding app they can add it to.

As for the video, obviously I'm using one Smiley winking I will feel completely uncomfortable and awkward watching myself, but I will love it. And hopefully my children will love watching it as well.

I didn't think I wanted one for about a year of my engagement. Until recently I watched a wedding video that made me cry. I hired one very late in the game, but I'm glad I did.

At the very least, have someone capture your ceremony.

I'm not! So many other expenses and I can't imagine watching it over and over. I love pictures anyway.

I didn't have one-- DH was adamantly against it-- I think he thought I'd grab every guest who entered our house and say, "You *have* to watch this!" Smiley sexy Although we've been married 16 years, and I thought our wedding was THE BEST, I've never, in all those years, thought, "Wow, I wish I had a video to watch!" Not to mention that back then it would have been a tape, that I would have had to move to DVD, and then onto my hard-drive, only to realize it's not HD, and now nothing will play it properly anyway.... Smiley sexy

We weren't going to but then my OOT MOH had to back out and I really wanted to be able to still share my day with her even though she can't be there in person. I'm meeting with one Wednesday and FH said it's a "high maybe" we'll hire him.

We didn't have one and I don't regret it. I hate watching myself on tape and pictures suffice for me!

I didn't have one, my father in law and uncle in law ran their camera from start to finish pointing at different angles(3 camera in total) for the whole ceremony and reception. The quality on all the cameras is damn near perfect and I was not willing to spend thousands in a videographer. The photos are what I want.

We didn't pay for one. My Uncle and a few cousins videoed for us. A friend (professional film editor) is cutting the raw footage for us. Friends got the vows on their cell phones.

If you weren't planning it your budget or don't have it in the budget, don't worry about it.
