Whoops - Thank you Card Mix-up

Kelly, on September 9, 2019 at 3:09 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 2

2x of the people invited to our wedding our identical twin brothers - who always get called each other name.

Well a few weeks ago, we received a gift from one - the first name under the Amazon Thank You portion only showed the letter "M". Well since the one brothers first name began with the letter "M", I assumed it was him & his wife (the brothers also live right next to each other on the same street, in the same town, with the same zip code).

It wasn't.

The couple that I sent the thank you card to gave my FMIL a gift for us, but my FMIL forgot to give it us. So anyway I sent them the thank you card, referencing the gifts that we received (um, that they did not send), and mailed it out.

A week later my FMIL received a phone call - saying that they received a thank you card, but it wasn't or their gift - my FMIL was like, no - it's definitely not for your gift since it's still in my car.

My FMIL told me that I sent them a thank you card for gifts that they didn't send, I was like - oh, no - then I said that I got the brothers confused and the thank you card that I sent was for his brother, the name came up weird on amazon. When I said that everyone started to laugh - as apparently people constantly confuse them for each other.

I resent the thank you cards to each - explained the situation, and said that apparently even from afar that they still get called each other names. Thankfully the brothers have a good sense of humor - and thought that it was extremely funny.

Has anyone else experienced a thank you - mix-up?

This is going to get a lot fewer laughs but we didn’t nail out our thank you’s until about 18 months after we got married. Why you ask?

my husband was responsible for dropping them at the post office. I brilliantly put them in his backpack to take with him on his way to work. Little did I know it was his backup backpack. Since he didn’t have them he assumed I just did it. Since I put them in his backpack I assumed he did it. We didn’t realize until we were moving 😳😳😳

We actually had two family members call us saying they were very upset with us. lol chill you didn’t even realize until we sent the card.

    Hey Kelly!!

It sounds like you handled the situation perfectly. I'm sure the recipients of the thank-you cards will be able to see the funny side of it, especially since it was such an honest mistake!
